The elaborate funeral tradition in Guanzhong region offers us a new perspective to rethink the research of Chinese funeral ceremony. The funeral ceremony is essentially a social practice of 'rite', and it highlights the ethical dimension of Chinese funeral ceremony. The 'ritualization' of ceremony is based on the farmers' realization ways of life value, namely, to transcend the limited natural life with unlimited ethical life. It has been realized in the segregated space of the funeral ceremony, and has been expressed and confirmed through the ethical relationships between the dead and the chief mourner, the extended families, the villagers and the brother of the dead's mother. In the process of expression and practice of the 'ritualization', the ethical life of the dead has been achieved, and the family and community order has been reproduced
Orientierungskrise und der Diskurs der Gewalt im Fin de Siècle Crisis of Orientation and the Discourse of Violence of the Fin de Siècle  [cached]
António Ribeiro
querelles-net , 2002,
The ritualisation of violence through the character of the victim represents an important aesthetic procedure in fin de siècle literature. Brittnacher’s work investigates the meaning of the motive of victimization in the works of Hofmannsthal, Rilke, Borchardt, Flaubert, Wilde, George, and D’Annunzio. Brittnacher succeeds at documenting that the ideology of victimization is closely linked to a gender-specific system of power in which males, unsure of their mascuilinity, look for ways to stabilize their identities.

Hirose,María Belén;
Cuadernos de la Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales. Universidad Nacional de Jujuy , 2009,
Abstract: in this work i describe and analyze argentine folklore dance contests. by applying ritualization theory, i show how the deployed strategies constitute a hierarchical system. participation in such a system is experienced by the dancers as redemptive hegemony. the data making methodology was that of the ethnographic fieldwork, which i intermittently made during two years.

The Menus Plaisirs Administration and Royal Clothing in the 18th century French Court - Implied as much in the financial and accounting management of the French Royal Household as in the material arrangements of the ceremonies, the “Menus Plaisirs” administration played a key part in the court life the ritualization of which was essential to the monarchy representation system. They contribute to every kind of clothing practices due to court appearances rules. From the king’s wardrobe financing to his servants and actors’ clothing, the “Menus Plaisirs” administration was indeed responsible of a large range of supplies. These ones were as diversified as the administration’s attributions and reflected the whole structure of the court society. In this paper, I intend to explore the material court culture and the Old Regime institutions’ spirit through the part the “Menus Plaisirs” administration played in court dressing. First of all, by analyzing the association between the Wardrobe and the Menus Plaisirs, secondly, by studying the clothes they produced between court and city, and, finally, by showing which contradictory principles were conducting their management.

Palacios Ramírez, José;
Desacatos , 2009,

Quase adulta, quase velha: por que antecipar as fases do ciclo vital?
Scott, Russel Parry;
Interface - Comunica??o, Saúde, Educa??o , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-32832001000100005
Abstract: by observing two different generations of women, one discovers that there is a phenomenon whereby the passage from one phase of the lifecycle to the following one may be anticipated. this phenomenon calls for interpretation. many girls, for instance, get pregnant and, whether or not they get married, become mothers. many women aged forty-five to fifty, on the other hand, join "senior citizen" groups. the interpretation that this essay proposes examines the consequences of: 1) demographic transition (and the resulting aging of the population), which lends particular visibility to these two generations; 2) exclusion from the job market; 3) government actions; 4) rising individualism; and 5) the logic of gender and generation relations in households. in order to explain the behavior of very nearly adult women and of women who are almost old, two groups that anticipate life cycle phases, one resorts to a combination of the above factors culminating in the establishment of a condition of generational borderlines, typical of rites of passage, and the construction of processes of de-ritualization and re-ritualization within current society.
Silva, Míria Ribeiro Neto da;Féres-Carneiro, Terezinha;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822012000100008
Abstract: taking brazilian recent political history as a scenario, and starting from the background provided by the theory of generational psychological transmission, the present work discusses questions related to impossible mourning and the silence imposed by "state secrets" to the families of political militants who disappeared during the military regime. in order to illustrate the discussion, two members of two families of missing militants, indicated by the group torture never again, were interviewed. these families still try to fulfill the bumpy memories, which can only be rescued through the temporal inscription of occurrences, through the ritualization of mourning and the knowledge of the circumstances involving the death of their family members, putting and end to an unfinished cycle. the traumatic situations not recognized by society, thus not legitimated, resulted for these families in the incapacity to elaborate and overcome trauma.

Psicologia & Sociedade , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822005000200011
Abstract: this article intends to map the subjectivity of women who are victims of gender violence perpetrated by their partners. the tools to compose this cartography consisted of a intervention, by means of a workshop where the narrative was used. the workshops were organized with the participation of ten women victims of gender violence, assisted by "maria mulher/porto alegre", which is a non-governmental organization for african brazilian women. artistic resources were also used, such as the manufacturing and painting of masks, physical expression exercises and dramatizations. this article focuses on three meetings of this workshop. the first one, where the women narrated their personal histories; the second one, where they were told the stories of female orixás [african-brazilian deities]; and the third one, where space was given for the ritualization. it was observed that these women are submitted to multiple kinds of violence, which paralyzes their movements of desire, arresting and territorializing them in the roles of mother, wife and care-giver. on the other hand, the workshops made possible the constitution of new territories and possibilities of becoming beyond the violence.
BONE CUTTING, PLACEMENT, AND CANNIBALISM?: MIDDLE PRECERAMIC MORTUARY PATTERNS OF NANCHOC, NORTHERN PERU  [cached]

Chungará (Arica) - Revista de Antropología Chilena , 2001,
Abstract: Mortuary practices of the Middle Preceramic period (ca. 8500-4000 B.P.) are discussed for the Nanchoc region of the upper Za a Valley, northern Peru. Careful breaking, cutting, and placement of human bones from adult males during the Las Pircas Phase (8500-6000 B.P. ) gave way to more haphazard breakage and discard during the subsequent Tierra Blanca Phase (6000-5000 B.P.). The evidence of cannibalism is considered. Bone breakage, cutting, and possibly cannibalism is believed to have been part of a broader process of ritualization that mitigated the spiritual danger of the transition from hunting-gathering to horticulture Este trabajo discute las prácticas mortuorias del Período Precerámico Medio (ca. 8500 - 4000 A.P.) de la región Nanchoc del Valle superior de Za a del norte de Perú.
