Abstract: brazil has 58 cataloged meteorites for scientific studies; a low number compared to countries in europe and the united states. the samples studied belong to a collection of 17 meteorites from the mineralogy museum professor djalma guimar?es - mmpdg in belo horizonte, minas gerais. ten of those meteorites were found in brazil; among them are the bocaiúva and jo?o pinheiro meteorites. the bocaiúva meteorite, the third heaviest (64kg), was found around 1947 in the town of bocaiúva, located 384km from belo horizonte, in the state of minas gerais. besides the bocaiúva meteorite, there is also, in the mmpdg, another fragment cataloged as "bocaiúva meteorite", which is actually a fragment from a different meteoritic body, called jo?o pinheiro, yet to be cataloged. the mineralogical differences, especially regarding the silicate portions of the bocaiúva, as well as fluid and melted inclusions, leave no doubt that they belong to different meteorites. minerals such as kamacite, taenita, troilite, schreibersita and graphite are found in the jo?o pinheiro meteorite, while in bocaiúva are present forsterite, kamacite, taenita, troilite, schreibersite, pentlandita, magnetite, chromite, pigeonite, diopside, enstatite, plagioclase, apatite, calcite and goethite.

Bonomo, Daniel R;
Pandaemonium Germanicum , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1982-88372010000200008
Abstract: this article results from a research carried out between april and june of 2010 in the instituto de estudos brasileiros at the universidade de s?o paulo, in which a complete list of titles related to the german language and culture was collected from jo?o guimar?es rosa's personal library. alongside a description of the procedures taken, we offer a comment on some of the most important aspects of the material analysed, including its recurrent themes and features, such as the marginalia found in volumes by authors like nietzsche, kafka and erich auerbach, as well as on the general context of guimar?es rosa's german readings. we intend to contribute to the studies of guimar?es rosa's literary sources, and also to throw light on an object that may be of future interest within the german studies in brazil.

Faria Filho, Luciano Mendes de;Zica, Matheus da Cruz e;
Cadernos Pagu , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-83332010000100008
Abstract: this article aims to identify and analyze different aspects of masculinity presented in the literature of bernardo guimar?es, an important 19th century brazilian writer from minas gerais. we shall focus how the author, in his literary work, constructs the gender relations and produces representations about men and women, specially the masculine experiences, without forgetting the feminine ones. we intend, in the same way, to contribute to a broader understanding of the participation of literature in the production of representations and practices of masculinity (and of femininity) in late nineteenth-century brazil.
