Jacobsen, Arne
Informes de la Construccion , 1979,
Abstract: The Danish Embassy building in London is arranged in two bodies, one having six stories and the other, two stories, respectively, with a total area of 6,340 m2 under roof. The first body houses the main chancellery functions and the Ambassador's Residence, while the two-story body - separated from the first by an inner courtyard — contains four duplex fiats for Embassy staff, having independent access from the outside. The fa ade shaping and materials were designed so as to maintain the new building in keeping and harmony with the surrounding buildings, all typical examples of classical London architecture. This work, considered as one of the best Jacobsen's designs, was completed after hls death by his successors, Messrs Dissing and Weitiing.

Abstract: This paper aims to re-build the experience of Brazilians in London from the case of Jean Charles de Menezes. Who migrated to London, from Gonzaga, Minas Gerais, and died on the 22nd of July 2005 when he was ‘mistaken’ for a terrorist. We hope with this article to re-build the route of his life from his family members’ verbal accounts as well as from accounts of the national and international press, aiming to discuss how the route of dramatic life and death can help us understand the routes of many emigrants, and also understand the prejudice contexts and hosting society discrimination. Keywords: International migration, ethnicity, life history, Brazilian emigrants, Brazilians in London. Guest, John
Informes de la Construccion , 1978,
Abstract: This home, designed by the architect himself as his place of residence with his wife and two children, is sited in a large garden belonging to the former home of the family, situated in an area relatively close to the center of London. The program of the dwelling, which includes: five bedrooms, bathrooms, playroom for children, living room, dining room, kitchen and music room, is resolved in two floors and a semibasement. The house is basically oriented towards the rear garden, in order to integrate the garden areas into the interior spaces, which is achieved by means of large terraces and Windows. Other characteristics of this construction are the luminosity —achieved by means of glass facades and an adequate selection of the covering materials—, the low maintenance costs and the abundance of space, which tend to counteract the negative effects of the large city n which it is immersed.

The last biennial meeting on the 18th of May 2007 concerning the Bologna Process took place in London with the ministers responsible for higher education from the participating countries. The London Communiqué summarised the ministers’ appraisals of the current situation. Thus, the consolidated improvements were considered together with the deficiencies which not received the necessary attention and the measures and strategies which will be implemented to achieve its final conclusion. This text reports all these issues and adds a synthesis of previous documents concerning the more closely related aspects to the meeting of London 2007, including the doctoral programmes and the profile of PhD student. In this way, the reader will have additional information in a wider context about the last meeting’s more relevant aspects.
