Abstract: The probabilistic methods of conflict prediction and estimation of conflict situation are offered for en route flight. The mathematical statement of problem, the criterion of conflict detection, and randomized estimation procedure are presented. The analytical expressions for evaluation conflict probability are derived for estimation of air traffic safety in collision avoidance systems. Предложены вероятностные методы прогнозирования и оценки конфликтных ситуаций при полете самолетов на маршрутах. Раccмотрены критерий обнаружения конфликта и процедура вероятностно-имитационного метода его оценки. Приведенные аналитические выражения оценки вероятности конфликта могут быть использованы для оценки безопасности воздушного движения в системах предупреждения столкновений самолетов. Запропоновано ймов рн сн методи прогнозування й оц нки конфл ктних ситуац й при польот л так в на маршрутах. Abstract: Free flight is a proposal for future air traffic management.Previous studies showed that it would have negative effects on air traffic controllers’ conflict detection performance and proposed the introduction of conflict alerts as a solution.These studies focused on individual properties of conflict alerts such as modality,reliability,and look-ahead time,and found different effects of modality and reliability of conflict alerts on controllers’ performance compared to those found in traditional automation research.To clarify these differences and to provide effective guidance for the design of conflict alerts,future studies should investigate the effects of property-integrated conflict alerts on controllers’ performance and should include conflict resolution tasks in their experiments.

Abstract: Spatio-temporal correlations of intensity of traffic are analysed for one week data collected in the motorway M-30 around Madrid in January 2009. We found that the lifetime of these correlations is the shortest in the evening, between 6 and 8 p.m. This lifetime is a new indicator how much attention of drivers is demanded in given traffic conditions.

Abstract: In this paper, a complexity indicator for 4D flight trajectories is developed based on conflict probability. A 4D trajectory is modeled as piecewise linear segments connected by waypoints. The position of each aircraft is modeled as a 2D Gaussian random variable and an approximation of the conflict probability between two aircraft is deduced analytically over each segment. Based on such conflict probability, a complexity indicator is constructed for the whole trajectory. Numerical examples show that the proposed complexity indicator is able to reflect the complexity of 4D trajectories perceived by air traffic controllers.

Abstract: This article deals mainly with defining a way of monitoring traffic conflicts. This issue is only one part of a greater safety analysis, or risk determination process for a particular location. Based on the described procedures it is possible to apply the methodology also to more complicated nodes, such as level crossings, sections of towns, residential areas, or rural areas. After the survey and the collection of a necessary amount of transport and engineering data, the determination of a relative number for the "almost-accident rate" (number of calculated vehicles for a selected time period and the number of traffic conflicts - so-called almost-accidents) may be calculated.

Abstract: In this paper a recent variable anticipation cellular automata model for single-lane traffic flow is extended to analyze the situation of free and congested flow in the Highway from Mexico City to Cuernavaca. This highway presents free flow in standard days; but in the returning day of long weekends or holidays it exhibits congested flow and in rush hours jamming appears. We illustrate how our CA model for traffic flow can deal appropriately with transient situations and can be used to search new alternatives that allow to improve the traffic flow in Mexican highways.

Abstract: In the last 30 years of internal armed conflict in the Philippines, children have become both victim and perpetrator of violence. Children, boys and girls not even eighteen years of age, bear arms for the New People's Army (NPA), the Moro National Uberation Front (MNLF), the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Abu Sayyaf. Children old enough to cany and use M-16 and AK-47 rifles are volunteered, coerced and even manipulated into armed groups. Young and impressionable, child soldiers can become the fiercest fighters through indoctrination. According to the author, there are several reasons why children end up fighting alongside adults. These children may have been victims of physical or sexual abuse or witnesses to the death of a loved one in the hands of government forces. Some factors are more complex. There may be experiences of neglect and abuse, weak family ties and negative experiences in school, or a combination of all the above.Poverty, social injustice, and limited or no access to basic services are contributing factors to the creation of the child soldier. Being exposed to armed conflict situations, children are exposed not only to grave I and serious physical danger but also to psychological trauma resulting from capture, torture and rape, and detention. Having experiences also result in child soldiers living with shame and guilt and reacting with apathy and numbness for the rest of their lives. They are faced with extremely polarized moral dilemmas such as self-preservation and killing another human being for the glory of God, freedom and the oppressed people. Should they be taken out of armed conflict situations, child soldiers find difficulty in re-joining their communities or having normal lives. Often they return to their comrades in the battlefields.
