Turkish Studies , 2007,
Abstract: Adaptation, an item of theatre in Turkish literature beginning with Tanzimat, has been opposed since it would have negative effects on development of national theatre and on Turkish society structure. On the other hand adaptation was supported as it would benefit development of modern theatre. Though the common belief was against adaptation, adaptations of Ahmet Vefik Pasa from Moliere have found acceptance. This acceptance might be due to his preference of comedy and of its best performer in world literature, Moliere, and adaptation of plays consistent with Turkish society structure and moral virtues as in the case of Zoraki Tabip.

Bayram NAZIR
Journal of International Social Research , 2010,
Abstract: Mehmed Emin Pasha functioned as the London ambassador for about two years from 25 July 1848 on. During the 19.th century, London enjoyed a central role in European politics. The Pasha commenced work in a period of very critical developments in Europe. His reports to the Porte included these related to the revolutions of the year 1848 which are of particular significance. Mehmed Emin Pasha had been entrusted with the duty to convey the gratulation letter of the Sultan Abdulmecid to the King of the Netherlands who had ascended to the throne. The Pasha left London for this duty and arrived in the Netherlands after a month and was admitted by the King. The Pasha wrote a pamphlet covering his observations about the Netherlands where he stayed for 20 days. In this writing, the Pasha pointed to the achievements in agriculture and seafaring of a country that was virtually submersed in water. The Pasha told how the sea and the rivers flooded the land and the population built channels to protect themselves from the floods. Mehmed Emin Pasha gives brief but significant information on the Netherlands where he stayed only a short time.

Journal of International Social Research , 2010,
Abstract: During the period of National Struggle, both the press in general and the journals in particular have had great contributions for the purpose of making the public conscious. Within this framework, Dergah was one of the most significant science, art and literature journals of the armistice years. Between 15 April 1921 and 5 January 1923, the journal published in Istanbul totally 42 issues, as it could be understood from its contents, backed up the National Struggle.Ahmet Ha im has also taken part in Dergah with his works beginning from the first issue, to which the following names such as Yahya Kemal, Ahmet Ha im, Yakup Kadri, Falih R fk , Halide Edip, Ru en E ref, Abdülhak inasi, Ahmet Hamdi have contributed. The poet’s nine prose works, one of which was formerly published, and eight poems, three of which were composed, were published in the journal between 1921-1922.Ha im has mostly put emphasis on the art, literature, language and spelling issues in his prose works in Dergah. The poet, who was interested in the individual and spiritual aspects of art rather than the social and political aspects, was in favour of being precise in literature as well as standing up for the continuation of understandings and habits that were basic and generally held with regard to the language and spelling. In addition to this, Ha im, who generally used the individual subjects such as love, woman, beloved, death, childhood memories, nature, time in the poems published in the journal, is criticized because he handled in the severe conditions of the National Struggle.Nevertheless, considering his art life as a whole, Ahmet Ha im made a claim to the national and spiritual values both in his prose and poems contents, form, language and style probably as a matter of stage, mostly the prose works he wrote in the journal, Dergah and he produced his art, which made him prominent in the literature world.
