This paper presents the results of a composition of literature review and field research on the Landless People's Movement struggles in South Africa aiming to explore the historical relation between the farm dwellers and the land they live's claim. Drawing from fieldwork notes, archives and literature debates, I state that the fluidity of this category, that embraces consequences of the apartheid, transformations in the agricultural sector, religion and customary laws affects their relations with the State, social movements and NGOs. This complexity also becomes problematic due to the fact that they cannot be easily described by the traditional sociological narratives designed for farm workers, peasants and neither with the one's of the classical African ethnology.
A etnologia, ciência ou literatura?
Gutwirth, Jacques;

Abstract: This work is an approach to the fundamental elements on which it turns the specially French sociological current known as sociology of the imaginary thing. In the first place, it fixes his attention on the analysis of those theoretical traditions that have contributed to develop this current, the anthropological-sociological thought of Gilbert Dürand and the durkheimian contributions of the French sociological School. Next, it raises the sociological relevance of the notion of imaginary like a new approach to the understanding of the social reality, synthetically detachhing the essential directives on which this current weighs affecting five aspects: the persistence of the myth and the asylum, the implication of the imaginary thing in the routine character, the interpretation of the daily life, the attachment between imaginary and the politician and the imaginary foundation of the utopia.

Boletim do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. Ciências Humanas , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1981-81222009000100008
Abstract: the paper presents three contributions of the swiss zoologist emil august goeldi (1859-1917) to amazonian archaeology and ethnology published between 1900 and 1906, in german, when goeldi was the director of paraense museum, in belém, brazil. the first paper is a scientific divulgation article about the cunani pottery, discovered in 1895 in the north of the amapá state, brazil. the second paper deals with archaeological artifacts found in the mouth of amazon river, an important area for this kind of research, including the pottery found in maracá, in the amapá state, and in the marajó island, in pará state, plus the lithic statues from the lower amazon. the third paper describes the use of lithic axes by the baikiri indians. these contributions show goeldi's interest in the study of material culture and data compilation for the improvement of the knowledge about the amazonian ethnolinguistics stems, proposing an ingenious union of intellectual resources provided by ethnology, archaeology and linguistics at that time.

A new take on the spatial and material conditions of these classrooms introduces two levels of intervention within the building scale: a new translucent, custom-perforated envelope, and skylights that provide light and higher interior heights.
