Nietzsche, Deleuze, and Nāgārjuna: Mapping the Dialectics of Will/Desire  [cached]
Che-ming Yang
Journal of Language Teaching and Research , 2010, DOI: 10.4304/jltr.1.6.842-847
Abstract: This paper aims to explore the correspondences between the dialectical analysis (the unique way of logical argumentation) of Nietzsche’s will and that of Deleuze’s desire—the discursive axis of two influential thinkers whose critiques of representation dominate the formation of postmodern theory and beyond. In addition, I make a comparative study of their dialectics and that of Nāgārjuna. The major Nietzschean/Deleuzean texts explored in this paper are some of those which foreground the everlasting deterritorialized movement of will (and its related themes—Overman and Eternal Recurrence) and desire: Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra and The Will to Power; and Deleuze’s Difference and Repetition, Nietzsche and Philosophy, Anti-Oedipus and A Thousand Plateaus. As for Nāgārjuna’s work, I choose to focus on his masterpiece and mostly valued one—Mūlamadhyamakakārikās (中論).The focus of this study is to attempt a mapping (characteristic of rhizomatics) of how their special dialectics of will/desire (Nihilism), without ever attempting to create another Absolute Truth, sets forth the non-totalizable multiplicities that characterizes the world of becoming
O pragmatismo de Nietzsche e o seu desdobramento estético segundo Habermas
Juli?o, José Nicolao;
Trans/Form/A??o , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-31732008000100009
Abstract: this article intends to reconstitute the critical interpretation argumet of habermas about the nietzschiane philosophy, focung a postface written in 1968, to a collection of texts by nietzsche about knowledge theory. our intention is to present the gênesis of interpretation, forteen years later, in the dfm (1982), where nietzsche is appointed, by habermas, as turnig point (drehscheibe) of modernity, that bred, on this way "an irracional speech metaphysically defaced", basis of the post-modernity. however, as the postface is contemporary to the work, ci (1968), in which there is a chapter dedicated to nietzsche, that complements the postface to muck, we decided to use this material to help our interpretation.
O tecido quebradi?o das ilus?es: Nietzsche sobre a origem da arte e da linguagem
Wischke, Mirko;
Kriterion: Revista de Filosofia , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-512X2005000100003
Abstract: this article addresses two questions concerning nietzsche's "attempt at self-criticism": how are we to conceive of a joyful pessimist, who forgets with a laugh all "metaphysical comfort-taking"? and how are we to reconcile his ontological position - according to which there is no being, but only becoming - with his conception of the task of art? the author regards nietzsche's conception of appearance (schein) as an epistemological framework that places ontology and philosophy of art in the context of a conception of language leading nietzsche to demand of philosophers that they create new values
The Dialectics of Democracy  [cached]
Sari Roman-Lagerspetz
Nordicum-Mediterraneum , 2012,
Abstract: ”Thinking publicly otherwise” is one of the foundations of democracy. The task of the opposition in a democratic system is to express distrust, to criticize the actions of the government and to provide an alternative. The opposition institutionalizes distrust, and, paradoxically, the presence of this institutionalized distrust is, for the citizens, one important reason to trust the democratic system. The claim defended here is that the relationship between the government and the opposition can be understood in terms of Hegel’s dialectics. Although Hegel’s political theory as formulated in his Philosophy of Right emphasizes the unifying role of the State, his earlier philosophy contains more democratic potential.
Sur Nietzsche.
René-éric Dagorn
EspacesTemps.net , 2002,
Abstract: Nietzsche aujourd’hui.
Tactics, dialectics, representation theory  [PDF]
Denis V. Juriev
Mathematics , 2000,
Abstract: This article is devoted to the tactical game theoretical interpretation of dialectics. Dialectical games are considered as abstractly as well as models of the internal dialogue and reflection. The models related to the representation theory (representative dynamics) are specially investigated in detail, they correlate with the hypothesis on the dialectical features of human thinking in general and mathematical thought (the constructing of a solution of mathematical problem) in particular.
Gadamer and Nietzsche
Carlos B. Gutiérrez
Ideas y Valores , 2005,
Abstract:This paper pretends to give elements for the urgent dialogue between Gadamer’s hermeneutic philosophy and Nietzsche’s work. From the version given by Gadamer of the initial disencounter with the Zarathustra, we move on to the count made by him of the growing height of interpretation, term that because of Nietzsche comes to symbolize the stance of the modern age. Gadamer insists, however, in carefully drawing the limits of hermeneutics within the horizon that has been enlarged by means of psychoanalysis and ideological critique. Facing the illusions of self conscience and the positivist ingenuity of the notion of fact, language is to Gadamer the natural context of specular mediation of everything that is. Such context is one in which the comprehension as interpretation is made, permitting the senses that have been bestowed upon us to speak in each situation. Towards the end we will signal the advantages of approaching hermeneutic philosophy from Nietzsche, for whom interpretation possesses also ontological character. We do consider counterproductive to oppose to the vital dynamics of interpretation in Nietzsche a totalizing and metaphysic notion of meaning in Gadamer, given the high mobility of hermeneutic experience in which each time that something is compre
Dialectics of contemporary world processes and relations  [PDF]
Milan Miljevi?,Vladimir D?ami?
Singidunum Journal of Applied Sciences , 2012,
Abstract: Contradictions of nature and the nature of contradictions of post-capitalism, post-socialism and neoliberalism, which are concretized through the world processes and relations of economic crisis, demands humanistic critical examination of theoretical paradigms on which they are based. In the process of theoretical and empirical inquiry, methodological correctness demands to open some important questions: 1) meaning of the concept of dialectics; 2) what does the social science argue about contemporary processes and relations and 3) is the dialectics, and if it is, when, the nature of contemporary processes and relations?
Will to power as physis: Nietzsche and Aristotle
Savi? Mi?o
Theoria, Beograd , 2010, DOI: 10.2298/theo1004051s
Abstract: Nietzsche's critique of metaphysics, as the way of the overcoming of the modern interpretation of being, is based on his doctrine of will to power, which evokes a certain kind of the return to the Greeks. Therefore, the paper points to the close relationship between Nietzsche's notion of the will to power and the Greek notion of physis, which is primarily stated in Aristotle's philosophy. For this reason, the relationship between Nietzsche's and Aristotle's philosophy is also explained. However, the fact that Nietzsche interprets the being by the notion of will is the sign that he succeeded to rid of modern metaphysics only partly, for the metaphysical concept of will is the modern interpretation of the Greek concept of physis. Subsequently, Nietzsche's metaphysics holds some ambivalence, which is reason for different interpretations of his undertaking.
Nietzsche’s “Love” for Socrates  [PDF]
Drew A. Hyland
Humanities , 2015, DOI: 10.3390/h4010003
Abstract: In this essay I contest the prevailing view that Nietzsche almost exclusively criticizes Socrates, by a careful consideration of his encounter with Socrates in the Birth of Tragedy and Twilight of the Idols. By showing that in Nietzsche’s own sense he “loved” Socrates, I am able to raise a number of important issues for further consideration.
