A dichotomous key to the 18 genera of springtails (Hexapoda: Collembola) recorded for maize and cotton agroecosystems in Colombia is presented. This includes an upper level taxonomic categorization to the level of family and order. The key is illustrated with 22 figures.

Neotropical Entomology , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-566X2009000300007
Abstract: the purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of different landscape structures on the understory collembola community. four different forest physiognomies were compared: pinus spp. plantation, eucalyptus spp. plantation, araucaria angustifolia plantation, and a remaining native araucaria forest. three areas containing two sampling units (25 m x 2 m each) were selected in each forest physiognomy. understory collembola collection was done with a 1 x 1m canvas sheet held horizontally below the vegetation, which was beaten with a 1m long stick, seasonally from september 2003 to august 2004. we evaluated the influence of forest physiognomies on the abundance, richness and diversity of collembola communities. it was also verified if the habitat structure of each physiognomy was associated with the composition of the collembola community. a total number of 4,111 individuals were collected belonging to the families entomobrydae and tomocerida (entomobryomorpha), and sminthuridae (symphypleona), and divided in 12 morphospecies. pinus plantation presented the highest richness, abundance and diversity of collembola and it was associated to diverse understory vegetation. the abundance of entomobrydae and sminthuridae was associated to the presence of bushes, while tomoceridae abundance was associated to the presence of trees. the habitat structure, measured through understory vegetation density and composition, plays an important role on the determination of the structure and composition of the collembola community.

Mastozoolog?-a neotropical , 2010,
REGISTRO DE PARO CARDíACO EN EL ADULTO Registries of outer hospital cardiac arrest in Bogotta-Colombia  [cached]
Ricardo Navarro Vargas
There is not a standardized registry form of cardiac events requiring cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in our country such as the Utstein style. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of the registries of out-ofhospital cardiac arrests in Bogotá-Colombia. A retrospective survey of registries of cardiac events assisted by a regulatory center "Centro Regulador de Urgencias del Distrito (CRU)" was conducted, between January and March, 2005. The study reveals a poor registry of outof-hospital cardiac arrest in Bogotá-Colombia, and identifies trauma as the cause of cardiac arrest in 22% of cases, a particularly high figure compared with 5-8% registered worldwide. Recommend the standardization of the registry form of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and suggest to use the "uniform reporting of data following cardiac arrest - the Utstein style". The registry forms are shown in appendix 1-2. Suggestions are welcome.
Primer registro de Centrocestus formosanus (Digenea: Heterophyidae) en Colombia
Velásquez, Luz Elena;Bedoya, Juan Carlos;Areiza, Astrid;Vélez, Imelda;
Revista mexicana de biodiversidad , 2006,
Abstract: centrocestusformosanus (digenea:heterophyidae) is reported for the first time in colombia, parasitizing snails and fish from the lake of the joaquín antonio uribe botanical garden, medellín city. rediae and cercariae were obtained from mad morphs of the snail melanoides tuberculata. metacercariae were found encysted on gills of fish of the families cichlidae and poeciliidae while adults were recovered from experimentally infected chicks. prevalence in adult snails was 74%. parasitized snails were found to be sterile.
COMENTARIOS SOBRE EL PRIMER REGISTRO DE MICOREUS ALSTONI (ALLEN, 1900) (DIDELPHIMORPHIA, DIDELPHIDAE) PARA COLOMBIA COMMENTS ABOUT THE FIRST RECORD OF MICOUREUS ALSTONI (ALLEN, 1900) (DIDELPHIMORPHIA: DIDELPHIDAE) FOR COLOMBIA

In 2004, Cuartas-Calle reported the first record for Colombia of a small mouse opossum part of the former genus Marmosa, Micoureus alstoni (Mammalia: Didelphimorphia). This author based his identification and record on a juvenile specimen from Chocó Department. Based on the analysis of relevant literature and Cuartas-Calle's description and illustrations of that juvenile specimen, we conclude that this is not the first record of this species for Colombia, and the juvenile specimen reported by Cuartas-Calle can not be positively identified as Micoureus alstoni due to its juvenile stage.
