Female patient 45 years old with giant cervicothoracic lipoma, that consulted by increase of cervical volume, odinodysphagia and dyspnea. An x-ray thorax and computerized tomography revealed a bilateral intrathoracic giant mass, occupying the left thoracic cavity extending to the anterosuperior mediastinum and the neck, causing displacement of the trachea and the pharynx towards the previous and right portion. The patient took to surgical resection of the cervical thoracic tumor, with histological examination that confirmed the diagnosis of a giant lipoma, with weight of 475 grams and measures of 30 x 20 cm. It is largest cervical thoracic lipoma documented in modern literature and with cervicotomy and thoracoscopic approach.
Cervico-thoracic kyphosis in a girl with Pierre Robin sequence

GMS German Medical Science , 2011,
Abstract: Congenital cervico-thoracic kyphosis has been encountered in a girl with Pierre Robin sequence. The constellation of the spine malformation complex such as incomplete development of the vertebral bodies associated with defective ossification of the cervico-thoracic pedicles causing effectively the development of complete spinal cord injury at the kyphotic level of C7/T1 were present. Congenital kyphosis secondary to vertebral body hypoplasia has not been reported in connection with Pierre Robin sequence.

Janaki Medical College Journal of Medical Science , 2014, DOI: 10.3126/jmcjms.v2i1.11391
Abstract: Background and objectives: The sacral hiatus is the site for caudal epidural anaesthesia during perineal surgery and also for a painless delivery. It is also used for three dimensional colour visualization of lumbosacral epidural space in orthopaedic practice for diagnosis and treatment. Work on the morphometrical study of the sacral hiatus is limited, especially in south indian population. So this study is carried to examine, measure and record the morphometry of sacral hiatus in order to study the anatomical variations which will be useful for caudal epidural anaesthesia. Material and Methods: The study was conducted in the Department of Anatomy, Prathima Institute of Medical Science, Naganur, Andhra Pradesh. 93 dry sacra with complete sacral hiatus were taken for the study. The shape of the sacral hiatus was noted by naked eye. Level of the apex and base of the sacral hiatus was noted with respect to the sacral vertebra. The length of sacral hiatus was measured from apex to the midpoint of base, the anteroposterior depth of sacral hiatus at the apex was measured with the help of vernier calipers. The transverse width of sacral hiatus at the base was measured between the inner aspects of inferior limit of the sacral cornu with the help of divider and then adjusted, and calculated with vernier caliper. Results: In 47 (50.53 %) sacra the shape was Inverted-U and in 25 (26.9 %) sacra Inverted-V. The irregular shaped of sacral hiatus was observed in 11 (11.8 %) cases. A “Dumbbell” shaped sacral hiatus was observed in 5 (5.4%) cases with a nodular bony growth projecting medially from both margins. The dorsal wall of sacral canal was entirely absence in 4 (4.3%) cases. Absence of sacral hiatus, a rare phenomenon, was observed in 1 (1%) specimens only. Conclusion: In the present study, elongated hiatus and narrowing of the sacral canal at apex of sacral hiatus was found in a significant percentage, which should be kept in mind while giving the caudal anaesthesia in Andhra Pradesh region. Bone Density and Cortical Thickness in Normal, Osteopenic, and Osteoporotic Sacra  [PDF]

Journal of Osteoporosis , 2010, DOI: 10.4061/2010/504078
Abstract: It is unclear if a decrease in cancellous bone density or cortical bone thickness is related to sacral insufficiency fractures. We hypothesized that reduction in overall bone density leads to local reductions in bone density and cortical thickness in cadaveric sacra that match clinically observed fracture patterns in patients with sacral insufficiency fractures. We used quantitative computed tomography to measure cancellous density and cortical thickness in multiple areas of normal, osteopenic, and osteoporotic sacra. Cancellous bone density was significantly lower in osteoporotic specimens in the central and anterior regions of the sacral ala compared with other regions of these specimens. Cortical thickness decreased uniformly in all regions of osteopenic and osteoporotic specimens. These results support our hypothesis that areas of the sacrum where sacral insufficiency fractures often occur have significantly larger decreases in cancellous bone density; however, they do not support the hypothesis that these areas have local reduction of cortical bone thickness.
Cervico thoracic junction spinal tuberculosis presenting as radiculopathy.  [cached]
Gopalakrishnan D,Krishna K
Neurology India , 2002,
Abstract: A case of cervico thoracic junctional area spinal tuberculosis presenting as painful radiculitis of the upper extremity is reported. The predominant symptom of radicular pain and muscle weakness in the hand, along with a claw deformity, led to considerable delay in diagnosis. The presence of advanced bone destruction with severe instability was demonstrated on the MRI scan done later. Surgical management by radical anterior debridement and fusion, along with chemotherapy, led to resolution of the upper extremity symptoms. The brachial plexus radiculopathy secondary to tuberculosis has not been reported. The absence of myelopathic signs even in the presence of advanced bone destruction, thecal compression and instability is uncommon in adults.
EL PANEGíRICO Y EL PROBLEMA DE LOS GéNEROS EN LA RETóRICA SACRA DEL MUNDO HISPáNICO: ACERCAMIENTO METODOLóGICO  [cached]
Bernarda Urrejola
This work is based on a review ofthree of the main criteria used to classify Hispanic preaching in genres (types of sermons). These criteria have also been used to classify panegyric as a genre of sacred oratory. Establishing differences between classical rhetoric and sacred oratory, this paper will try to define the place of the panegyric in preaching, thus determining in which ways it is possible to speak about genres of the sermon.
Cassiodoro, Teodato e il restauro degli elefanti di bronzo della Via Sacra Cassiodorus, Theodatus, and restoration of bronze elephants of the Via Sacra
Cristina La Rocca
Reti Medievali Rivista , 2010, DOI: 10.6092/1593-2214/46
The analysis of the Cassiodoro’s Variae allows to realize his careful meditation on the past times. He discriminates antiquitas from vetustas, and he emphasizes the different approach of Theoderic, king of Goths, from his successors about the restoration and rebuilding in the Italian and Gothic cities. In particular, La Rocca analyses a letter to king Theodatus, about the restoration of four bronze elephants (in the Via Sacra in Rome), and explains the metaphorical meaning of the image of the elephant, endowed of bodily strenght but fully dependent on man, when he’s in captivity.
