Love and structure Amor y estructura  [cached]
Charles Lindholm
Apuntes de Investigación del CECYP , 2008,
Abstract: Is romantic love a particularly Western and modern phenomenon, or a universal experience? This article argues that both these approaches err in taking sexual attraction as the essential characteristic of romance, whereas historical and personal accounts stress idealization of a particular other. Romantic love is properly defined as an experience of transcendence and is elaborated in cultural configurations of three basic types. The first is in hierarchical and internally competitive societies where marriage is a political matter and romantic relations are always adulterous and often non-sexual; the second is in individualistic, fragmented and fluid societies where love and marriage go together; the third is in highly structured disharmonic societies where romantic ties between youth are severed by arranged marriages.

Very few philosophers have tried to deal with the question of love íke a necessary subjert to renew the History of Phibsophy. Summing up those efforts, just Saint Augustine and, very shjlj, Pascal have reallj túed. Perhaps Plato peered much, but he did not daré to mite what mas “The nature of intelligenee of Good”. For Plato, that what is sacred is not an objert for theoretical knowkdge, not an axiom, but rather it has to do with what makes a man good, that is love. What makes man good is virtue, and virtue comes from love. Love, as Plato says, is to genérate in beauty because of the desire of immortalitj of virtue. What generates love is virtue; thefower that transforms comes from Love. Henee, in the oíd Plato we find this idea: The most beauty thing is to make the atiben good, to transform him. A person ’s perfection is in virtue and this is the stem of Love. The aim of this faper is to go back to a notion of person from love from a phenomenological perspective.

Pablo Palomino
Apuntes de Investigación del CECYP , 2008,
Abstract: This article proposes an explanation of the centrality of love in the poetic structure of tango and samba based on the modernization of the cities of Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro in the 1920’s. Through the analysis of lyrics from both genres, and a survey of Argentine and Brazilian historiographies of popular music, this article lays out a transnational perspective about the making of urban popular cultures of the early Twentieth Century, and also provides a reflection on music as an historiographic object.

Erotomania: the impasses of love and a psychotic response. It consists of approaching the concept of Erotomania as a response given by the psychotic for the question that is presented to the human being, caused by the contingency inherent to the encounter with the loving partner. We establish how love sets up a problem to the human being and we work this perspective pointing out the specificity of Erotomania in its differentiation with the response given by the neurotic, which is, the loving transference.
Why speak about courteous love at the beginning of 21st century? Why Borges, a 20th century writer, should be registered as one of its representatives? This work, invoking literature applied to psychoanalysis, will try to give answers to such questions. To this end, it will draw on two essential authors: Zizek (2003) who holds that "the logic of courteous love keeps defining the parameters within which the two genders relate to each other". Lacan (1990), for his part, acknowledges that "the influence of such poetry is decisive for us" despite the centuries passed by. Indeed, its "traces" still remain in the configuration of the current couple and, we add, in all the post-Boom Latin American sentimental narrative. Thus, from the poetics of fiction, the courteous love features arise such as anamorphosis and emptiness; simulation and artifice; opacity, the indecipherable, darkness, secret, and death. Work does not refer to the real, it is self-referential, it has in itself the deciphering keys; so entering itself into the code, into its meaningful dimension. Borges' poems from 1923 up to 1985 will be used as examples of these formulations.
