The Three Faces of the Second Law: I. Master Equation Formulation  [PDF]
Massimiliano Esposito,Christian Van den Broeck
Physics , 2010, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevE.82.011143
Abstract: We propose a new formulation of stochastic thermodynamics for systems subjected to nonequilibrium constraints (i.e. broken detailed balance at steady state) and furthermore driven by external time-dependent forces. A splitting of the second law occurs in this description leading to three second law like relations. The general results are illustrated on specific solvable models. The present paper uses a master equation based approach.

Abstract: Musikken i radioen handler ogs om lyttere.
The Spin Density Matrix I: General Theory and Exact Master Equations  [PDF]
Sharif D. Kunikeev,Daniel A. Lidar
Physics , 2007, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevB.77.045319
Abstract: We consider a scenario where interacting electrons confined in quantum dots (QDs) are either too close to be resolved, or we do not wish to apply measurements that resolve them. Then the physical observable is an electron spin only (one cannot unambiguously ascribe a spin to a QD) and the system state is fully described by the spin-density matrix. Accounting for the spatial degrees of freedom, we examine to what extent a Hamiltonian description of the spin-only degrees of freedom is valid. We show that as long as there is no coupling between singlet and triplet states this is indeed the case, but when there is such a coupling there are open systems effects, i.e., the dynamics is non-unitary even without interaction with a true bath. Our primary focus is an investigation of non-unitary effects, based on exact master equations we derive for the spin-density matrix in the Lindblad and time-convolutionless (TCL) forms, and the implications for quantum computation. In particular, we demonstrate that the Heisenberg interaction does not affect the unitary part (apart from a Lamb shift) but does affect the non-unitary contributions to time evolution of the spin-density matrix. In a sequel paper we present a detailed analysis of an example system of two quantum dots, including spin-orbit effects.

Testing the Master Constraint Programme for Loop Quantum Gravity I. General Framework  [PDF]
Bianca Dittrich,Thomas Thiemann
Mathematics , 2004, DOI: 10.1088/0264-9381/23/4/001
Abstract: Recently the Master Constraint Programme for Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) was proposed as a classically equivalent way to impose the infinite number of Wheeler -- DeWitt constraint equations in terms of a single Master Equation. While the proposal has some promising abstract features, it was until now barely tested in known models. In this series of five papers we fill this gap, thereby adding confidence to the proposal. We consider a wide range of models with increasingly more complicated constraint algebras, beginning with a finite dimensional, Abelean algebra of constraint operators which are linear in the momenta and ending with an infinite dimensional, non-Abelean algebra of constraint operators which closes with structure functions only and which are not even polynomial in the momenta. In all these models we apply the Master Constraint Programme successfully, however, the full flexibility of the method must be exploited in order to complete our task. This shows that the Master Constraint Programme has a wide range of applicability but that there are many, physically interesting subtleties that must be taken care of in doing so. In this first paper we prepare the analysis of our test models by outlining the general framework of the Master Constraint Programme. The models themselves will be studied in the remaining four papers. As a side result we develop the Direct Integral Decomposition (DID) for solving quantum constraints as an alternative to Refined Algebraic Quantization (RAQ).
STUDY OF MENTAL HEALTH AMONG PUPIL TEACHERS IN THE COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN JAMMU REGION.  [PDF]

Golden Research Thoughts , 2013, DOI: 10.9780/22315063
Abstract: The aim of the present investigation was to explore the Mental Health amongst the pupil teachers studying in various B. Ed colleges in Jammu Division of State of Jammu & Kashmir. The sample comprised of 800 pupil teachers drawn out of 16 different B. Ed colleges within the Jammu Division. . The results indicated that there was a significant difference in scores falling under the different areas of Mental Health i.e. (Depression, inferiority, anxiety) among the pupil teachers belonging to different levels of sex, locality and type of parental occupation.
