Abstract: In the title compound, {[Co(C8H4O4)(C10H8N2O2)(H2O)2]·C10H8N2O2}n, the CoII atom, lying on an inversion center, is hexacoordinated in a distorted octahedral geometry defined by two O atoms from two terephthalate (tp) ligands, two O atoms from two 4,4′-bipyridine N,N′-dioxide (bpydo) ligands and two water molecules. The coordinated tp and bpydo ligands and uncoordinated bpydo molecule all have an inversion center. The CoII atoms are connected by the tp and bpydo ligands into a layer parallel to (111). In the crystal, O—H...O hydrogen bonds link the uncoordinated bpydo molecules and the layers into a three-dimensional supramolecular structure. Intralayer O—H...O hydrogen bonds and π–π interactions [centroid-to-centroid distances = 3.6643 (13) and 3.8048 (13) ] are also observed.

Abstract: In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Eu(C8H3O7S)(H2O)5]·0.5C10H8N2O2·3H2O}n, the EuIII coordination polymer displays a ribbon motif as the 5-sulfoisopthalate anion uses one of carboxyl –CO2 units to chelate to a Eu atom and the other to bind to other two Eu atoms; the sulfonyl –SO3 unit is not involved in coordination. Adjacent ribbons are linked by O—H...O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network. The 4,4′-bipyridine-N,N′-dioxide molecule lies on an inversion centre and is hydrogen-bonded to the complex network. The coordination geometry of the Eu atom is a monocapped square antiprism.

Abstract: The aromatic rings of the N,N′-dioxide molecule in the title compound, C8H4NI3O4·C10H8N2O2·H2O, are twisted by 14.0 (2)°. The –CO2H substituents of the 5-amino-2,4,6-triiodoisophthalic acid are twisted by 83.0 (2) and 86.5 (2)° out of the plane of the aromatic ring. In the crystal, the three components are linked by O—H...O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network. An N—H...O interaction also occurs. One of the amino H atom is not involved in hydrogen bonding.

Abstract: The title compound, [Co(C8H4O4)(C13H14N2)2(H2O)2]n, was obtained by the reaction of CoCl2, 4,4′-trimethylenedipyridine and terephthalic acid in a 1:1:1 ratio. The octahedrally coordinated cobalt ions are bridged by 4,4′-trimethylenedipyridine ligands, generating a chain. These chains are further linked by O—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds, giving a three-dimensional network.

Abstract: In the molecule of the title compound, [HgI2(C12H12N2)], the HgII atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetrahedral configuration by two N atoms from the 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine ligand and by two I atoms. Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [PtCl4(C12H12N2)], contains one half-molecule; a twofold rotation axis passes through the Pt atom and the mid-point of the C—C bond linking the two rings. The PtIV atom is six-coordinated in an octahedral configuration by two N atoms of the 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine ligand and four terminal Cl atoms. In the crystal structure, there are weak π–π interactions between pyridine rings, with a centroid–centroid distance of 4.365 (3) .

Abstract: In the title compound, {[Mn(C15H8O7)(C10H8N2)(H2O)3]·C10H8N2·2H2O}n, the bridging mode of the coordinating 4,4′-bipyridine ligands leads to the formation of polymeric zigzag chains parallel to [0-11]. The chains are separated by 4,4′-bipyridine and water solvent molecules. Within a chain, the MnII atom is six-coordinated by two N atoms of the bridging 4,4′-bipyridine ligands, three water O atoms and one carboxylate O atom of a single deprotonated 3-(4-carboxyphenoxy)phthalic acid ligand. Both coordinating and solvent 4,4′-bipyridine molecules are situated on centres of inversion. An intricate network of O—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds involving the carboxy group, the coordinating water molecules and the two types of solvent molecules leads to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

Abstract: The title one-dimensional coordination network, {[Eu2(NO3)6(C10H8N2O2)3]·2CH2Cl2}n, is isostructural with the previously reported Tb and Tl coordination networks and to its Gd analog. The EuIII cation is coordinated in a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic fashion by nine O atoms from three bridging 4,4′-bipyridine N,N′-dioxide ligands and three chelating nitrate anions. None of the atoms lie on a special position, but there is an inversion center located between the rings of one of the ligands. The network topology is ladder-like, and each ladder interacts with six neighboring ladders through C—H...O hydrogen bonds. The packing motif of the ladders allows for the formation of channels that run parallel to the a axis; these channels are filled with CH2Cl2 solvent molecules that interact with the ladders through C—H...O hydrogen bonds.
