The diatom Fragilaria capucina var. mesogongyla, originally described by Frenguelli from Calama, Chile (22°28'S, 68°56' W), was found in a sample collected in the Lauca River, at high altitude in northern Chile's (18°30'S,69°16' W). For the first time, the taxon is studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Unusual for the genus Fragilaria, this variety exhibits one labiate process on each valve pole (two per valve). An amended diagnosis is given, and photographs illustrate the principal morphological features of this taxon.

Abstract: periphytic diatoms from fragilariales, eunotiales, achnanthales and gomphonema ehrenberg taxa were studied from a reservoir of the itaqui river, in s?o josé dos pinhais, pr. glass slides were used as artificial substrate that was collected after 30 days of incubation. sampling occurred quarterly from march 2008 to february 2009 for qualitative analysis. samples were collected to estimate the trophic state of the reservoir, which was classified as hypereutrophic. forty-nine taxa were identified, being 44 at infrageneric level. twelve species were first recorded in the state of paraná: fragilaria socia, eunotia rabenhorstiana var. elongata, e. soleirolii, e. ventricosa var. brevis, gomphonema parvulum f. saprophilum, g. pumilum, achnanthes minuscula, nupela wellneri, planothidium frequentissimum, ulnaria sp., eunotia sp.2 and gomphonema sp.2. ulnaria sp., eunotia sp.1, eunotia sp.2, gomphonema sp.1 and gomphonema sp.2, must be so far investigated because no similar form was catalogued on literature.

Abstract: objectives: to describe the moving day of a general hospital and to analyze the impact on clinical activity in the first few months after the move. methods: we describe the process of patient transfer and analyze the impact on activity of moving a regional general hospital in catalonia (spain) to a new building. activity was compared in two periods: the first 3 months after the move (period 2) and the same 3 months in the previous year (period 1). results: we moved 37 patients without incidents. a total of 18,786 patients were admitted to the emergency room in period 1 and 21,266 were admitted in period 2 (+13.2%). the number of admissions from the emergency room vs elective admissions was 1,314/803 in period 1 and 1,427/979 in period 2 (+8.59%/+21.91%). the number of outpatient visits in period 1 was 32,116 and 30,777 in period 2 (-4.16%). conclusions: proper planning and coordination allowed the hospital to be moved without incidents and without decreasing activity.

Argumentos (México, D.F.) , 2011,
Abstract: this article discusses the objectives, resource and exploitation of the stage, used by government and by social movements in san salvador atenco, as some of the causes that explain, in the context of desocialization, the failure to relocate the airport in the texcoco region. the study is based on a qualitative approach. it notes the government's inability to act in a context of great changes, which drove him to cancel the airport project.
