Chemical composition, losses and fermentation profile of elephant grass silage with jack fruit levels Composi o bromatológica, perdas e perfil fermentativo de silagens de capim-elefante com níveis de jaca  [cached]

Abstract: The objective with this experiment was to evaluate the effects of dehydrated jack fruit addition on the gases and effluent losses, dry matter recovery, pH, N-NH3, volatile fatty acids and chemical composition of elephant grass silage, using a completely randomized design, with four treatments and four replicates per treatment. The treatments were: elephant grass silage; elephant grass silage plus 5% of jack fruit; elephant grass silage plus 10% of jack fruit and elephant grass silage plus 15% of jack fruit, on the natural matter. Grass was cut at 50 days and ensiled in silos of five liters capacity, with bunsen valve to the gases flow up. The losses by gases showed quadratic (P<0.05) response by jack fruit addition, whereas the losses by effluent decreased linearly (P<0.05). Dry matter recovery was altered (P<0.05) quadratically with jack fruit addition. Dry matter and crude protein contents increased linearly (P<0.05), and neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber and hemicelullose decreased linearly (P<0.05) with jack fruit addition. The pH increased linearly (P<0.05), and lactic acid content increased (P<0.05) quadratically. N-NH3 and acetic and butyric acids decreased (P<0.05) quadratically with jack fruit addition. Jack fruit addition increases dry matter recovery, besides improving the fermentation profile of elephant grass silage and the smallest jack fruit level is enough to assure such improvements. Objetivou-se com este experimento avaliar os efeitos da adi o de jaca pré-desidratada sobre as perdas por gases e efluente, recupera o de matéria seca, pH, N-NH3, ácidos graxos voláteis e composi o bromatológica de silagens de capim-elefante, usando um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro tratamentos e quatro repeti es por tratamento. Os tratamentos foram: silagem de capim-elefante; silagem de capim-elefante mais 5% de jaca; silagem de capim-elefante mais 10% de jaca e silagem de capim-elefante mais 15% de jaca, com base na matéria natural. O capim foi cortado com 50 dias de rebrota o e ensilado em silos de cinco litros de capacidade, com válvula de bunsen para escape dos gases. As perdas por gases diminuíram (P<0.05) de forma quadrática com adi o de jaca, enquanto as perdas por efluente diminuíram linearmente (P<0.05). A recupera o de matéria seca aumentou (P<0.05) de forma quadrática coma adi o de jaca. Abstract: Realizou-se o trabalho com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito de estratégias de manejo sobre a composi o nutricional de pastagens de capim-Elefante. No Tratamento 1, o capim-Elefante foi manejado de acordo com princípios agroecológicos; no Tratamento 2, convencionalmente. Na área correspondente ao sistema agroecológico, o capim-Elefante estava estabelecido em linhas afastadas a 3 m, onde, no espa o entre linhas, no período hibernal, foi implantado azevém e, no período estival, permitiu-se o desenvolvimento de espécies de crescimento espontaneo. Na área referente ao sistema convencional, o capim-Elefante estava estabelecido em linhas espa adas a 1,4 m. Em cada pastejo, foram coletadas amostras por meio da técnica de simula o de pastejo para determina o das porcentagens de proteína bruta (PB), de fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), da digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca (DIVMS), da matéria organica (DIVMO) e dos nutrientes digestíveis totais (NDT). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado, com dois tratamentos, duas repeti es em parcelas subdivididas no tempo. Observou-se resultadosuperior (p < 0,05) para PB, DIVMS e DIVMO no sistema agroecológico. Para a FDN, foi verificado valor superior (p < 0,05) no sistema convencional. Os melhores resultados de valor nutritivo foram encontrados no período hibernal. Os resultados demonstram que ocapim-Elefante apresenta elevado valor nutritivo em ambos os sistemas estudados. This research was conducted with the objective of evaluating the effect of management strategies on the nutritional composition of elephant grass pastures. In treatment 1, the elephant grass was managed according to agro-ecological principles; in treatment 2, it was managed conventionally. In the agro-ecological systemarea, elephant grass was established in rows spaced 3 m apart, where ryegrass was planted in the space between rows during the winter period, and the development of spontaneous growth species was permitted in the summer period. In the conventional system area,elephant grass was established in rows spaced 1.4m apart. In each grazing cycle, using the hand-plucking technique, samples were collected for determination of the percentiles of crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), dry matter in vitro digestibility(DMIVD), organic matter in vitro digestibility (OMIVD) and total digestible nutrients (TDN). Abstract: To evaluate the addition effects of Lactobacillus plantarum or wheat meal, or both on the losses by gases, dry matter recovery, pH, N-NH3, lactic acid and chemical composition of elephant grass silages, this research was carried out. The experimental design was entirely randomised, with four treatments: Elephant grass silage; Elephant grass silage inoculated with Lactobacillus plantarum; Elephant grass silage + 10% of wheat meal in natural matter; Elephant grass silage inoculated with Lactobacillus plantarum + 10% of wheat meal in natural matter, with four replicates per treatment. The grass was ensiled in 5 liters buckets, with bunsen valve for escape of the gases. There was effect (P>0,05) of the wheat meal addition and of the inoculation on the losses by gases, dry matter (DM) recovery, pH and lactic acid of silages, and the combination of wheat meal and inoculant presented the smallest pH value, increased lactic acid content and decreased gas losses. The largest values of dry matter and smaller of NDF were observed in the silages with wheat meal, with or without inoculant. The inoculation reduced hemicellulose (HEM) content, in the silages with or without wheat meal, resulting in smaller NDF values, when compared to the non inoculated silages. Increases were fund in the protein content of the silages with the tested additives, being the highest value observed when both additives were present. One concludes that the inoculation with both Lactobacillus plantarum and wheat meal reduces dry matter losses and improve the quality of elephant grass silage, being the largest improvement observed when these addictive are combined. Abstract: It was aimed to evaluate the effect of different additives in the elephant-grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.) and sugar-cane (Saccharum officinarum L.), before and after the ensilage, through fermentation and chemical composition measures. The roughages were ensiled in PVC laboratory silos, with three for treatment, totalizing 24 microsilos for specie, in a completely randomized design. The treatments were control (without additive), corn meal, common salt, urea, acetic acid, formic acid, microbial inoculant and dried molasses. Samples were taken before and after 35 days of ensilage. Dry matter, crude protein and ammonia-N contents, pH and buffering capacity values and dry matter losses were analyzed. The elephant-grass presented satisfactory results for conservation in the silage form, and it was not necessary the use of additives. The sugar-cane presented satisfactory results for conservation in the silage form. The corn meal was the additive that promoted best fermentation pattern and smaller losses, as an option in the making of the sugar-cane silage. Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito de aditivos no capim-elefante (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.) e na cana-de-a úcar (Saccharum officinarum L.), antes e após a ensilagem, através de medidas de fermenta o e composi o química. As forragens foram ensiladas em silos laboratoriais de PVC, com três unidades por tratamento, num total de 24 microsilos por espécie forrageira, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Os tratamentos consistiram em controle (sem aditivo), fubá, cloreto de sódio, ureia, ácido acético, ácido fórmico, inoculante microbiano e mela o em pó. Amostras foram tomadas antes e após 35 dias de ensilagem, de modo que foram analisados os teores de matéria seca (MS), proteína bruta e nitrogênio amoniacal, os valores de pH e capacidade tamponante, além das perdas de matéria seca. O capim-elefante apresentou resultados satisfatórios para conserva o na forma de silagem, sem que fosse necessário o uso de aditivos. A cana-de-a úcar apresentou resultados satisfatórios para conserva o na forma de silagem. O fubá foi o aditivo que promoveu melhor padr o de fermenta o e menores perdas como uma op o na confec o da silagem de cana-de-a úcar.

Abstract: Para avaliar o efeito de três idades de corte (90, 128 e 146 dias) após o plantio sobre a produ o e as características químicas do capim-elefante (Pennisetum purpureum Schum) cv. Cameroon, cultivado em latossolo vermelho-amarelo, visando a sua ensilagem, realizou-se este experimento no Departamento de Produ o Animal da Escola de Veterinária da Universidade Federal de Goiás, no município de Goiania - GO. Utilizou-se um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com 16 repeti es, para avaliar a altura das plantas, a produ o de matéria seca, os conteúdos de matéria seca, de proteína bruta, de fibra bruta, de cálcio e de fósforo e os teores de carboidratos solúveis e o poder tamp o das plantas antes da ensilagem. Os resultados obtidos sugerem a viabilidade do aproveitamento da forragem colhida, nos cortes de diferimento, armazenada na forma de silagem. This trial was carried out in the Departamento de Produ o Animal at the Universidade Federal de Goiás, in Goiania-Goiás. Its purpose was to evaluate the effects of three different harvest ages after the plantation upon the elephant grass cv. Cameroon production and its chemical characteristics, cultivated in red-yellow latossol, aiming to the ensilage. It was used a completely randomized design, with 16 repetitions, to evaluate the plants height, the dry matter production, the contents of dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, calcium and phosphorus and the soluble carbohydrates contents and the buffering capacity before ensilage. The results obtained suggest the viability of the harvest forage utilization in the three closing out dates, stored as ensilage. Chemical and bromatological characteristics of elephant grass silages with the addition of dried cashew stalk

Abstract: the objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritive value of elephant grass (pennisetum purpureum, schum.) silages with the addition of 0, 4, 8, 12 and 16% dried cashew stalk (anacardium occidentale l.) - dcs, based on the fresh matter. a randomized complete design with four replications was used. twenty 210 l plastic drums were used as experimental silos. the levels were determined of the dry matter (dm), crude protein (cp), neutral detergent fiber (ndf), acid detergent fiber (adf), hemicellulose, ether extract (ee), total carbohydrates (tc), non-fibrous carbohydrates (nfc), neutral detergent insoluble nitrogen (ndin,% total n), acid detergent insoluble nitrogen (adin, % total n), ph values, ammonia nitrogen (in percentage of the total nitrogen, n-nh3, % total n), lactic acid, acetic acid, butyric acid and propionic acid. adding dcs resulted in higher values of dm, cp, ee, nfc, ndin (% total n), adin (% total n), ph, lactic acid and propionic acid. on the other hand, with increasing dcs levels, a linear decline was observed in values of ndf, adf, hemicellulose, ammonia nitrogen (% total n) and butyric acid. dcs did not show effect on the tc and acetic acid in the silages. as a result, up to 16% dehydrated cashew stalk may be added to elephant-grass silages, based on the fresh matter, to increase cp and nfc levels and decrease ndf and adf and improve the fermentation patterns. it should be taken into account that higher ndin and adin values may interfere in nitrogen availability and therefore in further dm intake.

Abstract: Nutritive value of silages of Elephant grass (Pen-nisetum purpureum, Schum.) mixed with 0; 3.5%; 7.0%; 10.5% and 14.0 % of dehydrated by product from juice industry of cashew fruit (Anacardium occidentale, L) (DBC) was determined. A randomized design was used with four replicates. Silages were opened after 65 days and samples taken for analysis of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), hemicellulose HCEL), cellulose (CEL), lig-nin (LIG), crude energy (CE), ash, neutral detergent inso-luble nitrogen (NDIN) and acid detergent insoluble nitro-gen (ADIN). Were also analyzed, pH, ammonia nitrogen and organic acids (lactic, acetic, butyric and propionic). Regarding fermentative parameters, there was an expected decrease in pH and the increasing levels of DBC did not affect the concentrations of N-NH3/NT and organic acids. It is concluded that dehydrated cashew by product can be ensiled along with Elephant grass without altering its fer-mentative characteristics. On the other side, the increased cell walls and ADIN contents of the silage may affect its nutritional value. Key-words: Cashew byproducts, nutritive value, tropical grass. O trabalho foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de se avaliar o valor nutritivo das silagens de capim-elefante (Pennisetum purpureum, Schum.) com adi o de 0%; 3,5%; 7%; 10,% e 14% do subproduto do pseudofruto do caju (Anacardium occidentale, L.) desidratado (subproduto da agroindústria do suco de caju). Utilizou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repeti es. Após 65 dias, os silos foram abertos e coletadas amostras para determina o dos teores de matéria seca (MS), proteína bruta (PB), fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), fibra em detergente ácido (FDA), hemicelulose (HCEL), celulose (CEL), lignina (LIG), energia bruta (EB), cinzas, nitrogênio insolúvel em detergente neutro (NIDN) e nitrogênio insolúvel em detergente ácido (NIDA). Para avaliar as características fermentativas das silagens, determinaram-se os valores de pH e os teores de nitrogênio amoniacal (% do nitrogênio total) e dos ácidos lático, acético, butírico e propi nico. A adi o do subproduto do pseudofruto do caju desidratado (SPCD) acarretou o aumento dos teores de MS, PB, FDA, LIG, NIDN e NIDA. Para os parametros fermentativos, observou-se redu o dos valores de pH, porém n o se registrou influência dos níveis de adi o do SPCD sobre os teores de N-NH3/NT e ácidos organicos. Elephant grass treated with alkali Capim-elefante tratado com compostos alcalinos

Abstract: The objective was determine dry matter (DM), crude protein (CD), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent (ADF), cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, ash and digestibility of elephant grass, in advanced maturation stage, submitted to the application of alkali compounds with calcium oxide (CaO), sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and CaO+NaOH, in two periods of treatment. The experiment was conducted according to a project of subdivided parcels that had been constituted by the controlled treatments, 3% of CaO, 3% of NaOH and 1.5% of CaO + 1.5% of NaOH, and subparcels for the two periods of treatment (24 and 48 hours). The treatment did not have any effect and nor neither for period of DM (35,8%) nor of CD (2,7%). The contents of NDF, ADF and cellulose were lesser in the treatments with the addition of CaO, NaOH and CaO+NaOH, mainly to the treatment period of 48 hours. The lignin content was not affected by the applied treatments 10.2%. The application of 3% of CaO, 3% of NaOH and 1.5% of NaOH + 1.5% of CaO increases the digestibility of elephant grass, and the most significant effect occurs when using NaOH. Objetivou-se estimar os teores de matéria seca (MS), proteína bruta (PB), fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), fibra em detergente ácido (FDA), celulose, hemicelulose, lignina, cinza e digestibilidade do capim-elefante em estádio de matura o avan ado, submetido à aplica o com óxido de cálcio (CaO), hidróxido de sódio (NaOH) e CaO+NaOH, em dois períodos de tratamento. O experimento foi conduzido segundo um esquema de parcelas subdivididas em quatro tratamentos e quatro repeti es, em que as parcelas foram constituídas da seguinte forma: sem aditivo, 3% de CaO, 3% de NaOH, e 1,5% de CaO + 1,5% de NaOH, com base na matéria natural. Já as subparcelas foram determinadas pelos períodos de tratamento (24 e 48 horas). N o houve diferen a para teor de MS (35,8%) e de PB (2,7%). Já os teores de FDN, FDA e celulose foram menores nos tratamentos com adi o de CaO, NaOH e CaO+NaOH no período de tratamento de 48 horas. O teor de lignina n o foi afetado, e o valor médio observado de 10,2%. A adi o de 3% de CaO, 3% de NaOH e 1,5% CaO + 1,5% NaOH aumenta a digestibilidade in situ do capim-elefante, com efeito mais marcante quando se utiliza o NaOH.

Abstract: the objective of the present study was to evaluate the nutritional value of elephant grass (pennisetum purpureum, schum.) silages with the addition of 0; 4; 8; 12 and 16% of the by-product from spu annato (bixa orellana, l.) based on natural matter. a complete random design was used with four replications. the nutritional composition, ph, ammonical nitrogen and lactic, acetic, propyonic and butyric acids were determined. levels of annato by-product had an increasingly linear effect on contents of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, ether extract, non-fibrous carbohydrates, propionic acid and ammonical nitrogen. the insoluble nitrogen contents in detergent and acid detergent, calculated on the percentage of total nitrogen and lactic, acetic and butyric acids were not altered by adding the annato by product. the annatto by-product improves the bromatological characteristics of the silages and it can be added in levels up to 16% of the natural matter at the moment of elephant grass ensilage.
