Sexuality and the Ethical of yourself care  [cached]
Márcio Mariguela
Educa??o : Teoria e Prática , 2008,
Abstract: Leaving from the distinction between word and thing in the Renaissance thought from Michel de Montaigne, the present article connects Freud’s position on the childlike sexuality to the ethical work of yourself care. The sexuality is a discursive act thatenvolves such the symbolic dimension – the representations conventionally set up by the social order–, as the imaginary dimension – the forms with which the individuals set themselves up as like psychological identity, and the real dimension – the impossible of representation that returns with the repetition power. So, it intends to articulate the position of Michel Foucault with the psychoanalysis of Freud and Lacan to establish some wombs of thought about the inclusion of the sexuality subject in the daily school.
Being human with yourself and the others in nursing: an essay
Maria de Lourdes de Souza,Marta Lenise do Prado,Marisa Monticelli,Vera Radünz
Online Brazilian Journal of Nursing , 2007,
Abstract: The subject to be human with yourself and the others in nursing emerges from the daily activities of the nursing. It involves various interlocutors, such as, the user of the service, family, living net and the members of the health team. The objective is to point out the necessity of to be human with yourself and the others in nursing to the nurses and nursing students. This essay is a result of the reflections arising in the Care and Comfort Research Group on the Nursing Graduate Program, Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Some of the ideas are based on a non-systematic bibliographical study. The development of the reflections required time to recognize in practical some components of this assay. The tactical patience showed to be fundamental to conquer the necessary changes in terms of investment of to be human with yourself and the others in nursing. Patience is defined here as the capacity to invest energy and to reach success, against all the apparent adversities; to light and to live the fire of passion; to create opportunities for the distinct workers of the nursing, by observing the talents and the different ways to contribute for the healthful working environment. We conclude that to be human with yourself and the others in nursing is a continuous transformation because the talents are revealed as part of a synergistic effect which increases engagement in creative processes and results and it is capable of surprising the most ardent skeptics and to assume an enterprising attitude of this bigger issue - that to be human with yourself and the others in nursing in the accomplishment of the nursing working. Keywords: Human development; Human resources; Nursing care.

Caminhando , 2009,
Abstract: The twenty-third issue of Caminhando comes to our readers with slight changes. Inside the journal, after six editions we have returned to a onecolumn format, which makes the inclusion of graphics and images easier and which represents the pattern for the journal size we use. We have also tried to concentrate the information of each article such as title, abstract and keywords in the three languages in a single page and gathered, because of that, all information concerning the authors in alphabetical order at the end of the journal. We have thus made room for one more article. The numbering of the journal has also been changed. For the subscriber who owns the whole collection, this is the third change. Up to issue 16, we used the year and the number (year X, No. 16), up to issue 22, the number along the volume (Vol. 13, No. 22). There has been, however, a new demand for emphasizing the year, and against our usage, the numbers in a year. We have therefore quit using the continuous numerical sequence. From now on, we shall use vol. XX, No. 1 (1St semester), an vol. XX, No. 2 (2nd semester). There has also been a change in our editorial staff. We would like to thank Editeo general editor Ronaldo Sathler-Rosa, the editorial secretary Glória Pratas, for the valuable services they rendered up to 2008 We wish you an inspiring and critical reading and invite you, esteemed reader, to interact with the authors by e-mail. Comment, challenge and deepen these contributions, and build with us a practical, theoretical and practical-theoretical theological knowledge which is consistent and relevant to our daily lives. In order to point out this dialogical structure, at the end of our journal we have also documented the institutional exchanges in the journal and the rules for article contributions.Helmut Renders,EditorIn the Holy Week of 2009.

Caminhando , 2009,
Abstract: The thematic emphasis for this edition follows the main topic for the Wesleyan Week of 2009: the 120 years of theological formation in Brazil. We deliver onto the hands of our readers some biblical, theological, confessional, denominational and pedagogical perspectives. The articles defend the importance of the dialogue between churches and their theological education institutions, which together are challenged by our continuously and deeply transforming society. Other articles complete this last edition of 2009 and we thank all the authors for their invaluable contribution. Besides the celebration of the 120 years of Brazilian theological education, we cannot set aside the 500 years of John Calvin’s birth. May this recollection be a moment of inspiration which generates hope and faith, acting with love, for churches of reformed tradition and for all the country. These 500 years are being celebrated at the same moment as the 75 years of the Theological Declaration of Barmen, which resulted from the prophetic collaboration between Reformed, Lutheran and United Churches in the beginning of the National Socialist regime in Germany, and the 100 years of the Missionary Conference of Edinburgh, which gathered even more partners willing to seek for new paths. So we have to remember church mission, the church as a prophetic voice and the reformation of the church alongside one another. What a chance and a challenge for churches to think of their role in the world and the relation among them!Changing the issue, in 2010 our Journal Caminhando shall ingress into the world of the Open Access Journals. This will make access easier for our readers. Starting from 2010, not only the abstracts, but also entire articles will be available immediately after their publication. Among other advantages, SEER (Portuguese for OAJ)offers a comfortable search system. Furthermore, the previous editions will be gradually integrated into the new publishing system. For authors, SEER will ensure more transparency during all the publishing process and a better indexation system which will be able to multiply the visibility of the production. This new publishing method demands a certain change of production habits. Firstly, in order to submit an article for the first time, authors will have to register into the system. After registering, they will find all the details for the publishing process and the new technical rules available. Abstracts, keywords and the texts themselves shall be posted directly into the homepage and submitted, with no personal information, to two evaluators. We cal
Measuring Romanian do-it-yourself retail chain’s efficiency during the economic crisis
Mónika-Anetta Alt
Tr?i?te/Market , 2012,
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to measure Romanian do-it-yourself retailers’ efficiency during the period of 2007-2010. The sample encompassed all do-it-yourself retail chains in Romania present in the market during the given period, that is 10 chains in all. For the purpose of the analysis, the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method was used. The DEA model includes three variables, namely, two inputs (fixed assets and the average number of employees) and one output (turnover). The results of the DEA analysis show a high level of efficiency in the Romanian do-it-yourself market during the period of the economic crisis. The mean score of technical efficiency varied between 0.829 and 0.904. According to the results, the domestic do-it-yourself retailer Dedeman outperformed the international competition during the analyzed period. Dedeman was also one of the best performers in the market in 2010. The well-performing companies' market penetration and development strategies are discussed briefly. The study seems to have been the first to apply performance measurement by means of the DEA in the Romanian do-it-yourself market.
Do-it-yourself remote chemical immobilization equipment
V de Vos
Koedoe : African Protected Area Conservation and Science , 1979, DOI: 10.4102/koedoe.v22i1.657
Abstract: A do-it-yourself method for the assembly of remote chemical immobilization equipment is described. The dart syringes are basically made up of components from conventional 2,5 ml capacity disposable plastic syringes. A blow-pipe made of metal, plastic or glass with suitable dimensions is used as a propelling apparatus for the dart syringe. The accuracy obtain- ed over 5 m by practically all people, novices included, makes this technique ideally suited for all caged animals and animals with limited escape range. Further merits accredited to this system were inexpensiveness, wide scope for improvization, simple construction, easy to use, reliability and consistency in operation, gentle impact and minimal tissue damage. Minimal disturbance was invariably caused to the subject animals.

Journal of New Frontiers in Spatial Concepts , 2010,
Abstract: Owing to computers and Internet we live in a highly engeneered and interlaced world today. Into all ranges of our daily life the digitality has meanwhile taken introduction, also into the most intimate corners. We contact our friends via Facebook, settle banking transactions by Online-Banking and watch for Youtube, as the new desk can be assembled best. Do-It-Yourself – a meanwhile nearly 60 years old movement – is closed to a virtual revolution. Who would like to understand that should know what words such as Cocooning, Digital Native or Community denote in future.
"What Race Do You Consider Yourself?": Factors Influencing Use of Color in Racial Self-Classification  [cached]
Shannon N. Davis,Ruth Jackson,Christine Aicardi
Sociation Today , 2012,
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors that predict how individuals, when given the opportunity, choose to racially self-classify. This paper examines responses from a nationally representative United States survey, where respondents could use any language they chose to respond to the question “What race do you consider yourself?” We determine the demographic characteristics that are correlated with responding with a color versus a racial group (e.g., Black versus African American), noting that educational attainment seems to be the key correlate of language choice. Respondents with children aged 6-12 are also more likely to self describe race using color while those with teenagers are less likely to self-describe using color. Implications of the findings are discussed.
BARRIERS AND OPPORTUNITIES IN DEVELOPING 'DO-IT-YOURSELF' (DIY) PRODUCTS FOR LOW-INCOME HOUSING
Aguinaldo Dos Santos,Cecilia G. da Rocha,Priscilla Lepre
Journal of Construction in Developing Countries , 2010,
Abstract: Direct involvement of the user in the assembling process of his/her own products or even entire house is a reality among low-income populations in developing countries. Nevertheless, there are a limited number of products that have actually been designed from a do-it-yourself (DIY) perspective, which results in several problems, such as poor user safety while the product is being assembled or inadequate results from an improvised assembling. Hence, the main goal of this paper is to analyse barriers to and opportunities for developing DIY products for low-income housing in developing countries. The research method utilises a case study of a DIY product consisting of a hybrid solution that acted as both a partition wall and a wardrobe. The identified opportunities included more systematic use of existing craft competencies among low-income families and the possibility of cost reduction through DIY concepts. Major barriers included the perception of the DIY product as inferior and the difficulty of communicating the DIY assembly process to users who quite often are illiterate.
