Abstract: this article sets out to tackle the constructive function of the fold, the contradiction and the inversion in euripides' alcestis. to this end, it defines the main terms under consideration, explores the tragedy in search of their manifestations, and indicates why the manifold contradictory elements present in the play, far from being distractions, underline the complexity of euripides' ideological and narrative universe.

Abstract: El presente artículo intenta dar cuenta de la función constructiva del doblez, la contradicción y la inversión en Alcestis de Eurípides. Para ello, define los principales términos en discusión, explora la obra en busca de sus manifestaciones y se ala por qué los múltiples elementos contradictorios de esta tragedia, lejos de ser distracciones o descuidos, ponen en primer plano -y de un modo que habría sido impensable en un discurso monológico- la complejidad del universo narrativo e ideológico de Eurípides. This article sets out to tackle the constructive function of the fold, the contradiction and the inversion in Euripides' Alcestis. Abstract: Agrodiaetus alcestis (Zerny, 1932) and A. demavendi (Pfeiffer, 1938) belong to the “brown” complex of the genus Agrodiaetus Hübner, 1822. This complex includes several cryptic species which are extremely uniform in wing colouration and genitalia structure, but have distinct chromosome numbers. In this paper we analyse karyotypes of A. alcestis karacetinae Lukhtanov et Dantchenko, 2002 and A. demavendi in populations from Iran. We demonstrate that A. alcestis karacetinae and A. demavendi are sympatric in the provinces Esfahan, Lorestan, Hamadan, Kurdestan, Kermanshah, and Markazi. The haploid chromosome number of A. alcestis karacetinae is found to be n=19 in all the populations studied. The karyotype of A. demavendi is not stable. The lowest chromosome numbers n=63-67 is observed in the south of the revealed distribution range (provinces Esfahan and Lorestan). The highest chromosome numbers (n=73-74) is found in Northwestern Iran in provinces Kurdestan and Zanjan. We also confirm that A. alcestis sensu lato appears as a polyphyletic taxon on the Bayesian phylogenetic tree inferred from the mitochondrial COI barcodes and should be most likely divided in two different species: A. alcestis sensu stricto and A. karacetinae. The new data on occurrence of A. admetus and A. ripartii in Iran are discussed.

Abstract: Montesquieu is widely known as one of the most important and influential authors of the French Enlightenment. The anthology of collected essays reviewed below, Lo spirito della politica. Letture di Montesquieu, edited by Domenico Felice, finds its name from one of the Montesquieu’s books entitled, De l’esprit des lois, written in 1748. Many authors from the twentieth century have studied different issues about Montesquieu’s opus maius. Some of the main arguments they discuss, like the method of his work and its relation with the Aristotelian empirical enterprise, or the differences between the claims of his thinking and that of Rousseau and many other, are now presented inside this collection of essays. It could be a useful guide for those who would like to start the study of Montesquieu’s ideas.

Abstract: Empress Theodora portrayed in the famous mosaic of San Vitale in Ravenna has contributed to establish her position in the following visual imaginary and has been quoted in many works of art, to the extent of having been considered her only depiction realized in her epoch. But it is an official and idealized portrait, which gives us very few information about Theodora’s actual look, so that many other works of art, in the following centuries, have been considered as her portraits simply because there were no information about the persons they actually represented. La raffigurazione Teodora nel mosaico di San Vitale a Ravenna ha contribuito in misura determinante alla costruzione della fama dell’imperatrice, che ha segnato profondamente l’immaginario visivo per secoli, al punto da essere erroneamente spesso ricordato come l’unico ritratto a lei contemporaneo. Ieratico e idealizzato, questo ritratto in realtà ci dice ben poco delle sue reali fattezze, tanto che nei secoli successivi molti ritratti semplicemente privi di indicazione sul soggetto hanno potuto essere associati a Teodora.

Abstract: The idea is to realize a great container where you can feel the friction between close but distant worlds, where the dramatic shrill sounds, that characterize the city, are perceptible but where, at the same time, great harmony and peace can be found. A world that sums up history, the great protagonist of Jerusalem, in an overlaying of strata of golden ages with dark and cruel ages; a continuous mixing of contradictory situations and contrasting events that create a huge hole, at the bottom of which there is a common, unitary world. The huge void of No Man’s Land is an underground square, the FORUM, a room that paradoxically could be the first link in a cultural, social and finally, urban connections: the space that gathers, keeping intact the identity of populations. The lotus blossom of Jerusalem. Subtracting room to contradictions and fights, we create a neutral space. The void is conceived as a neutral space, no?contact space, but where different cultures and traditions can meet, where it is possible to build up a dialog. The void itself facilitates the growth of peace. The city lives in the underground space a new dimension, with its contradictions, but with a contamination of cultures through several human activities (study center, library, restaurant, cinema, theatre, shopping mall, art galleries, offices…). Focusing the FORUM, but always with a glance at the upper concrete world, people is called quietly but firmly to work and live for peace and multiratial dialog. The gamble is to make the individual reflect, by the instruments of architecture, through evocations of the deep gorges of the desert of Judea and Negev, of the karstic phenomena of the slopes of the Dead Sea, so dramatic but in front of which the individual finds himself pervaded with an overwhelming sense of peace and unity in front of the big enigma of the Nature. An architecture which evokes the subterranean nature of Jerusalem, a city that seems condemned by its history to roll up on itself as if an incurable fault from the time of all times were swallowing it cyclically with continuous seismic phenomena.
