Abstract: One of the major novelties in modern retail that is gaining more and more prominence is the concept of cross-border shopping. Factors affecting the rapid development of cross-border shopping are numerous, such as price differentiation, quality, convenience, demographic and social characteristics, good organizational structure developed in modern retail and many others. Among the influencing factors, the role of price differentiation of goods and services is very important and it is also affected by numerous factors. Those are: value added tax, profit margins, operating costs, exchange rates, inflation, differentiation of organizational structure in retail, the application of advanced information and communication technology and others. Cross-border shopping is, in itself, very important influential factor for the development of tourism, target retail market, performance of retail companies and living standard. Altogether, this has a positive effect on the overall performance of the national economy.
Application of Lean Manufacturing Method in Small and Medium Scale Industries in Nigeria

Abstract: Globally large scale industries are in the fore-front of industrial engineering and for Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to remain competitive in the global competition which is largely controlled by large scale enterprises. The search for new revenue sources and implementing new cost cutting initiatives should be adopted by SMEs. To sustain their competitive advantages, one of these measures is the application of lean manufacturing system that was first introduced in the 1990. The purpose of this study is to apply lean manufacturing principles to small and medium scale industries in Nigeria. This study first describes the origin and concepts, specifically the concept of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) of lean production system to pinpoint how this system can be applied. The result from this study demonstrates that applying lean production system in small scale industries can reduce waste and increase values for customers.

Abstract: The present evolution on consumption goods market generates serious andcomplex issues to retail companies. Under the circumstances of seriouscompetition, retail companies in Romania confront themselves with the needof finding solutions to different aspects regarding integration on the market,identifying solutions concerning competition issues, initializing anddeveloping businesses or determining the profitability of every activity. Morethan this, having a relation with the market they act, retailers must know andfollow permanently the needs and the requires on the market, phenomenonthat implies marketing research, studies and analysis that allow a betterunderstanding of the economic processes, and also social ones, cultural,demographical, and so on. These present realities (and even possibleevolutions) that characterize the sector of retail have been the element thatdetermined the initiation of the present scientific action. The retail company isthe link within a value chain that comes in direct contact with the finalconsumer. Therefore, our intention is to determine the place, role andimportance of marketing within the general policies of retail companies.Naturally, this generated the question: is distribution marketing a specializeddomain that implies policies, strategies and specific techniques, or theassimilation of the classic concept is sufficient in solving marketing andmanagement problems?

Abstract: Setup reduction is an important tool in lean production to realize quick setup change and meet the demands of individualized customers. The paper introduces related concepts of setup reduction, analyzes the reason for deploying it in the view of economic theory and lean principles, and proposes six-step approach to setup reduction in detail, which is practicable and feasible for any enterprise to deploy immediately in multi-specification and small-batch production environments.

Abstract: The article begins with a formulation for predictive learning called multiple regression model. Theoretical approach on construction of the regression models is described. The key information of the article is the mathematical formulation for the forecast linear equation that estimates the multiple regression model. Calculation the quantitative value of dependent variable forecast under influence of independent variables is explained. This paper presents the retail sales forecasting with multiple model estimation. One of the most important decisions a retailer can make with information obtained by the multiple regression. Recently, a changing retail environment is causing by an expected consumer’s income and advertising costs. Checking model on the goodness of fit and statistical significance are explored in the article. Finally, the quantitative value of retail sales forecast based on multiple regression model is calculated.

Abstract: In this work we approached issues related to new methods of production organization such as Lean Management, a method specific for a flexible production of great success which represents the guarantee for a performant enterprise. In this paper we presented the main concepts, the application and adaptation way in different contexts, both in industry and in services. We showed a modern tendency which is taking shape more and more in the contemporary economic context, such as the integration of this concept with the Six Sigma concept, and thus we can talk about Lean Six Sigma, as an integrator method which guarantees high-class quality and lower costs.

Abstract: This paper aims to open the “black box” of the shopping experience concept by identifying its structural dimensions via the construction of a measurement scale. An initial decontextualised structure of the consumer’s experience concept in the retail outlet is obtained. To confirm this structure, we tested it in stores specializing in the sale of clothing products and accessories. We obtained a second-order global construct encompassing three dimensions: pleasure, sensory stimulation and immersion. Reliability and construct validity has been verified. Predictive validity has also been verified by testing the impact of in-store lived experience on impulses buying and re-experience need.

Abstract: The advent of information technology has created a sensation in the retailing world. Nowadays, a large number of retailers are using sophisticated software's to bring more efficiency in their operations. The world of IT has been further revolutionized by the concept of cloud computing in the recent past. The Indian organized retail industry has witnessed a revolution in the last decade. The advent of number of malls and shopping centers has evenly contributed in this advancement. The augmentation of Internationalization & Globalization saw a number of big international brands entering the Indian landscape have taken the Indian retail management industry to a higher level. One factor that has contributed significantly towards this success is Information Technology (IT). Technology has emerged as a boon for the Indian retail sector. Today, technology & retailing go hand in hand. Gone are the days when retailers used manual ways of tracking the inventory and managing their varied functions. Starting from the scanning of the bar codes, managing the data of the customers, loyalty programs to the inventory management, IT has played an imperative role in almost all of the key retail operations. However, the world of IT has been revolutionized by the concept of cloud computing in the recent past. Cloud computing enables an efficient delivery of business application online that are accessible from web browsers. A lot many organizations have preferred this concept & have implemented it to improve their overall operations. . This paper aims at highlighting the benefits of cloud computing and its application in the retail sector management.
The Effects of Market Orientation on Employees: A Study of Retail Organizations in Botswana  [cached]

Abstract: The present study applies the MARKOR scale to investigate the posited positive effect of market orientation on employees’ commitment to the organization and team spirit in a retail sector context in Botswana. The results of the present study provide empirical support for the posited link between market orientation and organizational commitment. Contrary to previous studies the present study does not lend support to the posited effect of market orientation on team spirit. Although this finding seems to be counter intuitive, it does not come as a surprise since the majority of retail businesses in Botswana are relatively small, and do not therefore rely very much on team work. From a managerial perspective the results of the present study suggest that there is much more to be gained from adopting and implementing the marketing concept other than improvement in business performance. The study also confirms the general applicability of MARKOR scale.
