Antioxidant Properties of Cap and Stipe from Coprinus comatus  [PDF]

Abstract: Coprinus comatus, also called chicken drumstick mushroom, is currently commercially available in China. Hot water and ethanolic extracts were prepared from cap and stipe of C. comatus fruit bodies and their antioxidant properties were studied. Ethanolic extract from stipe showed high antioxidant activity (80.6%) at 1 mg/mL. Reducing power of hot water extracts from cap was 1.653 at 10 mg/mL. Extracts from cap showed better scavenging ability on DPPH (57.9% at 1 mg/mL) than stipe ones. Ethanolic extracts were more effective in scavenging ability on hydroxyl radicals (57.4–61.3% at 5 mg/mL) than hot water extracts. Ethanolic extracts showed moderate scavenging ability on superoxide radicals (46.3–47.0% at 20 mg/mL). Naturally occurring antioxidant components including total phenols (3.60–20.00 mg/g), tocopherols (0.58–11.93 mg/g), flavonoids (0.19–3.52 mg/g) and polysaccharides (58.52–547.86 mg/g) were found in the extracts. Overall, extracts from cap were more effective for the antioxidant properties assayed.

Abstract: Some morphological and physiological aspects and cultivation of Coprinus comatus (O.F. Mull.) Gray were investigated. Malt extract agar turned out to be the best in supporting the mycelial growth of C.comatus. Mannose and maltose were the best carbon sources in supporting mycelial growth. C. comatus utilized peptone and NH4NO3 better than other nitrogen sources. The optimum temperature and pH on maltextract agar were 25oC and 6, respectively. Light retarded mycelial growth of C. comatus. For cultivation, the method of growing mushroom in autoclavable plastic bags was applied. Three different combinations of agricultural products were used for growing C. comatus. The combination ofpararubber sawdust : kapok waste : boiled sorghum seeds (3:3:1 by volume) supported higher yields of basidiocarps. Time required for full colonization of the mycelia on 500 gm substrate at room temperature(28-30oC) was 20.3 days. After casing with the mixed soil (loam soil : rice husk : cow manure, 2:2:1) the cultivating bags were incubated in the growth chamber at 20oC and 65% relative humidity. Fructificationbegan after 20.6 days of watering, and the average yield obtained was 165.6 g/bag.

Abstract: The effects of TFC on cytokines levels, total antioxidant activity, antinociceptive effects in vivo, LD50 and tactile hyperalgesia were analyzed respectively.TFC treatment decreased the levels of cytokines and total antioxidant status (TAOS) and inhibited the acetic acid-induced abdominal constrictions in mice. In addition, TFC reduced CFA-induced tactile hyperalgesia in a dose-dependent manner and the LD50 of TFC was determined to be 400?mg/kg. However, TFC did not significantly inhibit the reaction time to thermal stimuli in the hot-plate test.TFC showed anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, peripheral antinociceptive and antihyperalgesic activity in various models of inflammatory pain. The data suggest that TFC may be a viable treatment option for inflammatory pain.

Abstract: Coprinus comatus cultivated on cotton seed hull medium decomposed lignocellulose straggly and was high of absolute biological efficiency. Lignocellulose is the main carbon source for the fruiting stage of the fungus. There existed the positive correlation between the degradation rates of the cellulose and hemicellulose in the medium and the activities of extracellular CMCase (carboxymenthelcel lulase), FPase (filter paper cellulase) and HCase (hemicellu-lase), there also existed the positive correlation between the degradation rate of the lignin in the medium and the activity of extracellular laccase, but no correlation between the degradatio rate of the lignin in the medium and the activity of peroxidase. The activity of extracellular amylase was comparatively high at mycelial growth stage, and the protease activity peek was at teh time when the fruitbody matured.

Abstract: 用离子交换层析(CMsepharose FF)和凝胶层析(SuperdexTM75)方法,从新鲜食用菌毛头鬼伞(Coprinus comatus)子实体中分离纯化出一碱性蛋白y3,经SDSPAGE初步确定其分子量约为14.4kD。活性检测结果显示:当其浓度为12.5μg/mL时,对烟草花叶病毒(TMV)在心叶烟枯斑寄主上的侵染抑制率达83.0%;y3对兔血凝集活性滴度为2.5,对人血凝集活性滴度为26,其浓度分别为1.562μg/mL和0.781μg/mL;利用胃癌细胞株MGC803检测y3体外抗肿瘤活性,其IC50为12μg/mL。y3 N端序列为NRDVAACARFIDDFCDTLTP,为一新的蛋白序列。在SWISSPORT上登录号为P83477。

Abstract: glucan is a core structure in mushroom polysaccharide, which claim to posses anticancerous and immunomodulatory properties. The ability to identify (1, 3)--glucan in mushroom polysaccharide not only provide useful information on the structural composition of the mushroom polysaccharide, but facilitate us to identify the potential anticancerous and immunomodulatory active compounds. Using limulus factor G test, we detected (1, 3)--glucan in 27 polysaccharides extracted from 19 edible or medicinal mushrooms species. The result show that (1, 3)--glucan exists in all mushroom polysaccharide extracts but its content varies extremely depends on the mushroom species or the part of mushroom and the degree of purification. Our data show the mean of (1, 3)--glucan in these mushroom polysaccharides is 34.8%. Nine mushroom polysaccharide extracts from Lentinus edodes, Schizophyllum commune, Coriolus versicolor, Volvariella volvacea, Coprinus comatus, Grifola frondosa, Lyophyllum shimeji have superior (1, 3)--glucan contents than the others. Our study demonstrates that limulus Factor G test is a quick and convenient method for detecting (1, 3)--glucan content in crude mushroom polysaccharide extracts.
Analysis of genetic diversity among germplasm resource of 57 strains of Coprinus comatus

Abstract: 运用SRAP、RAPD、ISSR 3种分子标记技术对来源不同地区的57株毛头鬼伞Coprinus comatus进行了遗传多样性分析,通过3种分子标记进行聚类分析,当相异系数D为0.48时,可以把57株毛头鬼伞分为4类:Ⅰ类包括Co0001;Ⅱ类包括Co0003;Ⅲ类包括Co0005;Ⅳ类包括其余54个菌种。供试的57个菌株间的相异系数范围从0–0.72,具有一定的遗传多态性。但其中有许多菌株两者之间的相异系数为0,说明毛头鬼伞菌种存在着比较严重的同种异名现象。
Fatty Acid Compositions of Five Wild Edible Mushroom Species Collected from Turkey  [PDF]

Abstract: The fatty acids of five wild edible mushroom species (Agrocybe cylindracea, Coprinus comatus, Lactarius deliciosus, Suillus collinitus and Tricholoma myomyces) collected from different regions from Anatolia were determined. The fatty acids were identified and quantified by gas chromatography and studied using fruit bodies. Fatty acid composition varied among species. The dominant fatty acid in fruit bodies of all mushrooms was cis-linoleic acid (18: 2). Percentage of cis-linoleic acid in species varied from 36.29-66.72%. The other major fatty acids were, cis-oleic, palmitic and stearic acids, respectively. Fatty acids analysis of the mushrooms showed that the unsaturated fatty acids were at higher concentrations than saturated fatty acids.

Abstract: In this study, chemical compositions and antioxidant activities of 16 wild edible mushrooms (Agrocybe cylindracea, Amanita ceciliae, Armillaria mellea, Boletus reticulatus, Cantharellus cibarius, Chlorophyllum rhacodes, Coprinus comatus, Flammulina velutipes var. velutipes, Lactarius deliciosus, Lactarius salmonicolor, Pleurotus ostreatus, Polyporus squamosus, Rhizopogon roseolus, Russula anthracina, Suillus collinitus and Tricholoma myomyces) were investigated. Antioxidant properties of methanol extracts were studied by the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging method. Among the mushroom extract Amanita ceciliae and Pleurotus ostreatus (96.16 %) showed the most potent radical scavenging activities at 4.51 and 2.72 mg mL-1, respectively. The lowest scavenging activity was exhibited by C. rhacodes (70.46%) at 2.35 mg mL-1.
