AN OPTICALLY PUMPED CF4 LASER

Abstract: The stimulated emission of 16 μm was obtained as a result of optical pumping CF4 molecules with the 9R(12) line of TEA CO2 laser. The pump efficiency has been increased by narrowing the frequency bandwidth of CO2 pump laser with a CW gain cell, and by matching well the pump source to the pumped resonator.With a pump source energy of 700 mJ, a 25 mJ pulse energy of 16 μm laser output, an optical quantum efficiency of 7%, a pulse width of less than 150 ns were obtained. This laser can be operated pulsewise several thousand times with a repetition rate of 0.5 Hz. The relations between the output energy of CF4 laser and some parameters (T, p, Ep) have been determined experimentally. The result of 9R(10) pump line is also observed, and compared with the result obtained with high pressure continously tunable CO2 laser.

Abstract: A physical model is established to describe the kinetics and lasing mechanism of optically pumped cesium vapor laser. According to the experimental parameters, we analyze the influence of parameters of the pump light, the buffer gas pressure and the output coupler reflectivity on the output power and the optical-optical efficiency with the help of numerical method using this model. Abstract: 用 MOCVD方法生长了 In Ga As/ In Ga As P多量子阱微碟激光器外延片 ,用光刻、干法刻蚀和湿法刻蚀等现代化的微加工技术制备出直径 9.5μm的 In Ga As/ In Ga As P微碟激光器 ,并详细介绍了整个制备工艺过程 .在液氮温度下用氩离子激光器泵浦方式实现了低阈值光泵激射 ,测出单个微碟激光器的阈值光功率为 15 0μW,激射波长约为 1.6μm,品质因数 Q=80 0 ,激射光谱线宽为 2 nm,同时指出微碟激光器激射线宽比 F- P普通激光器宽很多是由于其品质因数很高造成的

Abstract: The dynamical behaviors of bistability and self-pulsation in optically pumped submillimeter lasers are studied. Bistability emerges in pumping light. It leads to non-existence of partial steady state of submillimeter output. It is easy to give pulsation output. The pulsation frequency increases with increasing pumping intensity.

Abstract: The calculation method of self-absorption in the theory of optically pumped far infrared lasers is proposed in this paper. In addition, a revision term, which is related to the operating gas pressure, is discovered. By this term the theoretical calculation results are in good agreement with the experiments.

Abstract: In this paper, we show that the photon-number squeezed state can be generated by optically pumped three-level atomic system. The Fano factor of the output radiation field has been calculated under the condition of incoherent pumping, weak coherent pumping and strong coherent pumping respectively. We find that the optimum squeezing effect of photon-number occurs in the situation of weak coherent pumping and the corresponding Fano factor is 0.16. This method of generating photon-number squeezed state is convenient and practical in experiment.

Abstract: A novel laser-optically pumped vertical external cavity surface emitting laser was demonstrated. A diode laser was employed as a pump source. The gain structure of the semiconductor was quantum wells grown by MOCVD technology. By adjusting the cavity which was typically plane-concaved structure carefully,the laser was obtained at 1005 nm centre wavelength and the output power was 40 roW. The optical-optical efficiencv was 2.7%.

Abstract: By solving the density matrix equation of three-level molecular system, the pulsed laser pumped D2O gas terahertz laser was theoretically studied, the expression of terahertz signal gain coefficient(Gs)and the pumping signal absorption coefficient (Gp) were obtained, the output power density of terahertz laser was calculated numerically by iteration method. The calculation shows that the spectral characteristics of terahertz laser was in full accordance with the stimulated Raman emission. The signal frequency detuning obviously affects the amplification process, and there exists splitting in the curve because of the dipole of D2O gas molecule being disturbed by the field of pumping pulse. The theoretical spectrum is in good agreement with reported experimental results.
