Abstract: Many Chinese mycologists are involved in basic and applied studies of different entomopathogenic fungi and have been making great achievements. In this special issue on entomopathogenic fungi, one review and different research papers were published including the resource investigations, gene cloning and the analysis of bioactive metabolites of different entomopathogenic fungi. To improve the application efficacies of mycoinsecticides and medicinal insect fungi, further studies are still required to investigate the virulence gene functions and molecular interactions between fungi and insects etc.

Abstract: 虫生真菌分子生物学的在研究自开展以来,有20多种与杀虫毒力相关的蛋白酶得到纯化,而与之相对应的基因也分别得到克隆、测序。陆续的基因克隆表明,虫生具菌中的重要毒力基因以基因族的形式存在,在精确的表达调控下以适应不同的寄主种类和不同的环境条件。基因工程研究表明,以增加毒力基因拷贝的方式可显提高虫生真菌的杀虫速率,带有外源基因标记的菌株也是环境释放示综研究的良好材料及方法。
Entomopathogenic fungal parasites of scale insects and their potential in biological control

Abstract: Scale insects (Hemiptera: Coccoidea) compose a group of important plant pests of agricultural crops, forest plants, ornamental plants and fruit trees. The history of the study of entomopathogenic fungi as a biological insecticide is reviewed according to the three developmental stages: the pioneering stage, the slow development stage, and the prosperity stage. Additionally, the status of this field in China was discussed. A list including approximately 140 species within 55 genera of the recorded fungal pathogens of scale insects in the world was provided. Finally, we provide four suggestions for the development of entomopathogenic fungi in the future.

Abstract: 在鉴证实务中,一直存在着在法律上无法对鉴证对象进行明确界定的问题,而套用审计准则来界定在范围上又显得过于狭窄,这一直是影响注册会计师开展鉴证业务的一个重要因素。本文从分析鉴证与审计的区别开始,探讨了鉴证准则增加“鉴证对象”的动因以及影响。【关键词】鉴证准则鉴证对象动因影响将于2007年1月1日起施行的《中国注册会计师鉴证业务基本准则》(简称“鉴证准则”)的第五章增加了“鉴证对象”的相关内容。鉴证准则第五章第二十一条规定,鉴证对象主要分为财务业绩或状况、非财务业绩或状况、物理特征、某种系统和过程、行为五大类,而与这五类鉴证对象相对应的信息形式分别为财务报表、反映效率或效果的关键指标、有关鉴证对象物理特征的说明文件、关于系统和过程有效性的认定、对法律法规遵守情况或执行效果的声明。

Abstract: The advanced progresses in insecticidal toxin from symbiotic bacteria of entomopathogenic nematodes were reviewed. The toxins with oral toxicities towards insects as well as relationships between oral toxicity and insecticidal toxin genes were centrally introduced. The authors' opinion in research directions in those toxins was put forward at the end of this review.

Abstract: Blastospores are asexual fungal spores produced by budding and they are the main propagules in liquid culture for many fungi. They have been used as inoculum for solid culture for massproduction of fungal insecticides and also as an important receptor for current genetic transformation of entomopathogenic fungi. The morphogenesis of blastospores of 10 species of entomopathogenic fungi in liquid culture was studied, including Beauveria bassiana, Isaria farinosa, I. cicadae, I. cateniannulata, I. fumosorosea, I. tenuipes, I. cateniobliqua, Metarhizium anisopliae, M. acridum and Lecanicillium lecanii. The results showed two patterns of morphogenesis. I. cicadae mainly propagate as mycelium in liquid culture while the morphogenesis of the other 9 species in the liquid culture were similar and all involved two manners: yeast-like budding or hypha and/or blastospore constrictions. The second pattern included initial phase, exponential phase and senescence phase. In initial phase, blastospores were generated by budding or constriction of mycelium. In exponential phase, they were massively produced by budding or constriction of both mycelium and blastospores. In senescence phase, new blastospores were produced by blastospore budding.

Abstract: The complex of insect mycoses by entomopathogenic fungi includes, in general, spore adhering, cuticle penetration, hemocoel colonization and host death. Recent gene function studies of Metarhizium anisopliae and Beauveria bassiana have bettered the understanding of the mechanisms of molecular entomopathogenicity that there are different genes involved in different infection stages. With the identifications of different virulent genes and the exploring of exogenous toxins, genetic engineering works have been reviewed in this paper to demonstrate the potentials to improve the control efficacies of mycoinsecticides by the strategy of toxin gene overexpression. Future studies are discussed to further explore fungal virulent genes and their functions during infection processes.

Abstract: Three mutants (Bb07240,Pf01120 and Pf01160) were produced and screen by water stress in low water activity media after irradiating blastospores of entomopathogenic fungi Bb07 (Beauveria bassiana) and Pf01 (Pacelomyces fumosoroseus) with ultraviolet light. Rate of blastospore germination and growth of the new strains at reduced water activity and reduced relative humidity were significantly higher than that of their original strains. The result of bioassay indicated that the three mutants were more virulent against peach aphids (Myzus persicae) than the original strains.

Abstract: The electrophoresis conditions were optimized for chromosome DNA separation of seven strains from four species of the entomopathogenic fungi Paecilomyces spp. by using a CHEF system, including the factors of switching angle, voltage, electrophoresis time and pulse intervals. After gel electrophoresis, the number and molecular weight of chromosomes, i.e. the karyotypes, were analyzed by the software. The results showed that the chromosomal karyotypes were different among the examined species of Paecilomyces spp. and among the strains from the same species. However, the difference level among strains was much lower than that among species. The result of this study provides support for the taxonomy of Paecilomyces spp.
