Abstract: Trabalhando com a perspectiva do construcionismo social sobre a sexualidade, este artigo tem por objetivo problematizar o surgimento das identidades sexuais modernas. Identifico, por um lado, a "inven o" da homossexualidade (e, portanto, da heterossexualidade) na produ o discursiva da sociedade vitoriana. Por outro lado, discuto a forma em que essa nova categoria torna-se base de uma luta política que reivindica a diversidade sexual, enfocando principalmente a evolu o de políticas de orienta o sexual na sociedade norte-americana do século XX.

Abstract: the study investigated the theme of sexuality among 14 hearing impaired young adults, aged 18 to 35 years, at the center for hearing, language and visual disturbances (cedalvi), a service of the hrac-usp/bauru. the aims were: to identify what kinds of information on sexuality were needed; to intervene through a sexual orientation program, so as to inform and discuss themes related to sexuality and to assess the information obtained by means of the sexual education program. to this end, a sexual orientation program was set up with three sessions concerning the following themes: sexual organs and gender relationships, caring relationships and pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and self-esteem. data was collected through a first time questionnaire, with closed true and false questions, with pre and post-tests applied at the beginning and the end of each meeting, followed by interviews to evaluate the whole process at the end of the program. the results showed that most young adults still view the term sexuality as restricted to sexual intercourse or to prevention of sexually transmitted diseases or to contraceptive methods and the media was cited as the main source of information. in the post-test, the greatest number of correct responses occurred for the theme sexual organs and gender relationships; in general, all participants offered positive reviews for participation in the program. the conclusion was that it is paramount to include sexual orientation in rehabilitation programs, guaranteeing access to information and promoting discussion of such subjects in these young people's lives.
Enfrentamento, locus de controle e preconceito: um estudo com pessoas de orienta o sexual homoafetiva  [cached]

Abstract: Esta pesquisa objetivou identificar os tipos de enfrentamento da discrimina o mais usados por pessoas de orienta o sexual homoafetiva, além de verificar a ades o ao tipo de locus de controle usado para explicar os acontecimentos de suas vidas e analisar as rela es entre modos de enfrentamento e locus de controle. Participaram 31 pessoas de orienta o sexual homoafetiva residentes em Aracaju-SE. Realizou-se a coleta por meio da escala de modos de enfrentamento de problemas (EMEP) e uma escala de locus de controle. As principais estratégias de enfrentamento usadas foram o foco no problema e o suporte social, sendo que o locus de controle interno predominou como explica o da causalidade. O locusinterno apresentou correla o positiva com o foco no problema (p<.01) e o suporte social (p<.05), enquanto que o locus externo correlacionou-se positivamente com o foco na emo o (p<.01) e busca pela religiosidade (p<.05).

Abstract: qualitative research that aimed to analyze under the optics of educators from public schools of fundamental teaching, how the theme "sexual orientation" has been incorporated into pedagogic practices. twenty three educators of municipal teaching of cajazeiras' city, paraíba, brazil, took part of the study. the focus group was elected as technique of investigation, and the empirical data obtained were organized according to the technique of analysis of content. it was realized that there is an effort of the actors to privilege contents related to sexual orientation in the school environment, though it is required that preliminarily a depth of informative and subjective character about the "sexuality" be incentivized, propitiating to the educators a space for re-significations of its internality of values. the information directed to self-care must transcend the limits preventative and hygienists, incorporating methodologies extensive, inclusive and reflective, which recognize human and social rights and promote the ethical construction of citizenship.

Abstract: this article presents some of the many myths surrounding sexual orientation in an attempt to discuss how there is no scientific support for their existence. subsequently, the authors present the ethical guidelines promoted by apa in regards to lesbian, gay and bisexual people. mental health professionals should thus attempt to understand the specific circumstances of lesbian, gay and bisexual people and engage in formation and training in issues of diversity.

Abstract: the authors tried to present theoretical and practical framework of the project "corporeal and health", developed as an extension activity at the federal university of s?o paulo city, brazil. the project is developed within the health promotion area and emphasizes the questions related to the body and sexuality, mental health, and violence, in order to catalyze discussions and critical thinking on this universe. the main purpose of this project is to articulate nursing teaching, caring and researching actions and its activities are directed to teenagers and young adults from fundamental and high school. all activities are based upon the orientations of the adolescent health program (prosad) from the brazilian ministry of health, the brazilian child and adolescent statute (eca) and the declaration of sexual rights, from the world association for sexology, along with principles from social psychology and psycho analysis. it is a liberating practice in which sexuality, when is well understood and properly canalized, can be translated into love, creativity, a force that lead to progress and self development.

Abstract: to deal with multiple social manifestations in the organizational world, humor is an important form of communicating something, although not in an explicit way, smoothing critics and aggressions under the pretext of getting a laugh. in this paper we discuss humor as a form of manifesting discrimination of sexual orientation in the work place. based on specialized literature about social, denotative and connotative functions of humor, and the insertion of female and male homosexuals in a professional atmosphere, we conducted a qualitative study with heterosexual and homosexual workers in companies located in the metropolitan regions of the cities of rio de janeiro and s?o paulo from 2005 through 2008 to obtain their life stories. the interviews were recorded and fully transcribed. they were then subjected to a french discourse analysis technique. the main results suggest that heterosexual humor about gays is explicit, and it seems to be socially legitimated because gays are funny. we also found surprising evidence that gays make jokes about themselves, confirming social stigma through laughs. the main conclusions discuss the need to put humor in a political context, as a form of communication in organizations, because one of its social functions is to aid the social processes of controlling and social discrimination.

Abstract: this article approaches the gender problem as it appears in groups which stand for sexual equality and not discrimination. since they are groups which have equality as one of their main goals, at first glance we could assume that the gender problem is not present among them. however, examining more closely the tensions and conflicts established in an organized homosexual group made up of both women and men, it is possible to demonstrate that, under those tensions and conflicts, there are different views of sexuality and action, established according to perceived attributes by the very actors involved as male or female. in the situation which was studied, the intensity of this problem was such that it resulted in the dissidence of some members and the formation of another group. a dichotomy was established between a group that claims for citizenship (seen as universal) and the other, dealing with issues that were seen as specific and "female", with a (re)position of gender hierarchies by both groups.

Abstract: A adolescência é marcada por grandes transforma es organicas, cognitivas, socioculturais e afetivas expondo o adolescente a muitos riscos. Dentre estes, a vulnerabilidade diante das DST como a AIDS é uma realidade. A escola exerce um papel fundamental na forma o do aluno, principalmente quanto às informa es na esfera da educa o sexual e orienta o sexual. O estudo tem como objetivo verificar o conhecimento dos professores sobre educa o sexual e preven o de DST, bem como identificar o nível de dificuldade dos mesmos ao lidar com esta temática no ambiente escolar. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva exploratória com abordagem quantitativa, cujos dados foram obtidos através de um questionário semi-estruturado respondido por 28 professores de um colégio público do município de Goiania/GO. Os resultados demonstram que apesar de considerarem a importancia do tema, a maioria dos professores n o se sente capacitada para trabalhar a temática educa o/orienta o sexual com os alunos adolescentes. 61% dos professores nunca realizaram nenhum trabalho educativo com os alunos no ambiente escolar e somente 39% já trabalharam utilizando diferentes estratégias. Diante dos resultados obtidos torna-se urgente a implementa o de estratégias educativas para a capacita o na temática educa o sexual ao grupo de professores.
