The use of N-alkanes to estimate intake and digestibility of coastcross-1 and Arachis pintoi mixed pasture Uso de N-alcanos para estimar o consumo e a digestibilidade da pastagem de coastcross-1 consorciada com "Arachis pintoi"  [cached]

Abstract: The trial was carried out to evaluate the alkanes (C27 to C35) profile, dry matter intake and digestibility of Coastcross-1 and Arachis pintoi mixed pasture with or without nitrogen fertilization in two periods (December/2003 and April/2004). The treatments evaluated were: CA0 = Coastcross + Arachis pintoi without N; CA100 = Coastcross + Arachis pintoi with 100 kg of N; CA200 = Coastcross + Arachis pintoi with 200 kg of N and C200 = Coastcross with 200 kg of N. The experimental period was composed by 8 days, with 3 days for marker administration (C32 in cellulose pelets) and 5 days for fecal collection, directly from animal rectum. Sixteen animals were used and maintained on grazed area since June 2003. From December to April, for pasture constituents, there was predominance of n-alkanes with odd chain, mainly for those with higher length chain (C29, C31 and C33), excepting leaves blade of Coastcross that presented the C27 alkane in higher concentration than C33. The highest amounts of n-alkanes C31 and C33 occurred during December. Animal’s intake and DMD did not present differences (P>0.05). The values of DMD using n-alkanes were similar to in vitro DMD of leaves blade from Coastcross. O experimento foi realizado com o objetivo de determinar o perfil dos alcanos (C27 a C35), o consumo e a digestibilidade da matéria seca do pasto de Coastcross-1 consorciada com Arachis pintoi com e sem aduba o nitrogenada em dois períodos (dezembro/2003 e abril/2004). Os tratamentos avaliados foram: CA0 = Coastcross + Arachis pintoi sem N; CA100 = Coastcross + Arachis pintoi com 100 Kg de N; CA200 = Coastcross + Arachis pintoi com 200 kg de N e C200 = Coastcross com 200 kg de N. O período experimental foi de 8 dias, 3 dias para o indicador administrado (C32 em peletes de celulose) e 5 dias de coleta de fezes, diretamente no reto do animal. Utilizou-se um delineamento em blocos ao acaso com duas repeti es. Foram utilizadas 16 novilhas cruzadas. Nos períodos de dezembro e abril, para os constituintes do pasto, houve predomínio dos n-alcanos de cadeia ímpar, principalmente para aqueles de maior comprimento de cadeia (C29, C31 e C33), exce o para as laminas foliares da Coastcross que apresentou o alcano C27 em maior concentra o do que o C33. As maiores quantidades de n-alcanos C31 e C33 ocorreram no mês de dezembro. O consumo dos animais e a digestibilidade do pasto n o apresentaram diferen as (P>0,05). Os valores dos CDMS, com utiliza o dos n-alcanos, foram semelhantes aos CDMS in vitro das laminas foliares da Coastcross

Abstract: O estudo objetivou avaliar a produ o de forragem e desempenho animal em pastagens de Coastcross + Arachis pintoi; Coastcross + Arachis pintoi com 100 kg ha-1 de N; Coastcross + Arachis pintoi com 200 kg ha-1 de N e Coastcross com 200 kg ha-1 de N, nas esta es de inverno, primavera, ver o e outono. Utilizou-se o delineamento experimentalem blocos ao acaso, com os tratamentos em parcelas subdivididas, com duas repeti es. Foram avaliados: acúmulo de massa de forragem e acúmulo diário de massa de forragem, ganho médio diário (GMD), ganho de peso vivo por área e taxa de lota o. A utiliza o de Coastcross + 200 kg ha-1 de N e as melhores condi es climáticas na primavera e ver o favoreceram tanto o acúmulo de massa de forragem (26.764 kg ha-1 de MS) quanto o acúmulo diário de massa de forragem (82 kg ha-1 por dia de MS). A utiliza o da associa o entre Arachis pintoi + 200 kg ha-1 de N e Coastcross + 200 kg ha-1 de N, possibilitou o melhor desempenho animal, com GMD de 0,570 e 0,500 kg e taxa de lota o de 3,51 e 3,26 UA ha-1, respectivamente. A utiliza o de pastagem consorciada sem a associa o com doses de nitrogênio (100 e 200 kg ha-1) n o favoreceu (p > 0,05) o acúmulo de massa de forrageme a taxa de acúmulo diária. A utiliza o de 200 kg ha-1 de N, com e sem a leguminosa, proporcionou o melhor desempenho e lota o animal por área. The objective of this study was to evaluate dry matter production and animal performance in pastures of Coastcross + Arachis pintoi; Coastcross + Arachis pintoi with 100 kg ha-1 of N; Coastcross +Arachis pintoi with 200 kg ha-1 of N and Coastcross with 200 kg ha-1 of N, during winter, spring, summer and autumn. The experimental design was complete randomized blocks with split-plot parcels, with two repetitions. The study evaluated the accumulation of foragemass and dairy accumulation of forage mass, average daily gain (ADG), live weight gain and stocking rate. The used of Coastcross + 200 kg ha-1 of N and the best climatic conditions in the spring and summer, favored the accumulation of forage mass (26,764 kg ha-1 of DM)and daily accumulation of forage mass (82 kg ha-1 day-1 of DM). The use of the association between Arachis pintoi + 200 kg ha-1 of N and Coastcross + 200 kg ha-1 of N, produces best animal performance, with ADG of 0.570 and 0.500 kg and stocking rate of 3,51 and 3.26AU ha-1, respectively. The use of pasture intercropping without association with doses of nitrogen (100 and 200 kg ha-1) did not favor (p > 0.05) the accumulation of forage mass and dairy accumulation of forage mass. Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the non-structural carbohydrates and root biomass in pastures of Coastcross + Arachis pintoi; Coastcross + Arachis pintoi with 100kg/ha of nitrogen (N); Coastcross + Arachis pintoi with 200kg/ha of N; and Coastcross with 200kg/ha of N, in the seasons of winter, spring, summer and autumn. In the experimental was used a complete randomized block design with subdivided parcels, with two repetitions (blocks) was used. The use of nitrogen fertilization (100kg/ha) associated to the Arachis pintoi provided the highest content of non-structural carbohydrates (0,3942g/hg) in the roots and greater root biomass (0,4483kg/m3). The content of non-structural carbohydrates and the root biomass were higher in the summer and autumn. The concentration of 63%, 24 % and 13% of the root biomass occurred in the layer of 0 - 15; 15 - 30 and 30 - 45cm of the ground, however, it did not have difference in the root biomass between the treatments with or without intercropping, in the studied depths. The concentrations of the non-structural carbohydrates were similar in the different depths of the root. Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar a concentra o de carboidrato n o-estrutural e biomassa radicular em pastagens de grama Coastcross + Arachis pintoi; Coastcross + Arachis pintoi com 100kg/ha de nitrogênio (N); Coastcross + Arachis pintoi com 200kg/ha de N; e Coastcross com 200kg/ha de N, nos períodos de ver o, outono e inverno. Utilizou-se delineamento experimental em blocos ao acaso com os tratamentos em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com duas repeti es (blocos). A utiliza o de aduba o nitrogenada (100kg/ha) associada ao Arachis pintoi proporcionou maior concentra o de carboidrato n o estrutural (0,3942g/hg) na raiz e maior biomassa radicular (0,4483kg/m3). A concentra o de carboidrato n o estrutural e a biomassa radicular foram elevadas no ver o e outono. A concentra o de biomassa radicular foi de 63%, 24% e 13% nas profundidades de 0 - 15, 15 - 30 e 30 - 45cm, entretanto, n o houve diferen a na biomassa radicular entre os tratamentos com e sem consorcia o, nas profundidades estudadas. As concentra es de carboidratos n o estruturais foram semelhantes nas diferentes profundidades das raízes.

Abstract: This trial was carried out to evaluate the production and quality of leaf blade (LB), sheath + green stem (SGS), dead material (DE) forage structural constituents of Coastcross and Arachis pintoi whole plant (WPA) mixed pasture, under grazing, during February 2003 and June 2004. The treatments CA0 = Coastcross + Arachis without N; CA100 = Coastcross + Arachis with 100 kg of N; CA200 = Coastcross + Arachis with 200 kg of N and C200 = Coastcross with 200 kg of N were distributed in a randomly block design, with two replicates. Pasture management was done through continuous grazing with variable stocking rate. Analyses of crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and dry matter in vitro digestibility (DMIVD) were done to LB, SGS, and WPA. The production of structural constituents varied in agreement with total mass and forage. Coastcross SGS contributed for forage production, and the quality characteristics are acceptable for animal production. Treatments that received nitrogen presented the highest CP values, and similar NDF and DMIVD to treatments without nitrogen. Objetivou-se, com este trabalho, avaliar a produ o e composi o química de forragem nos constituintes estruturais lamina foliar (LF), bainha + colmo verde (BCV), material morto (MM) da Coastcross e da planta inteira de Arachis pintoi (AP) em consorcia o sob pastejo no período de julho de 2003 a junho de 2004. Os tratamentos CA0=Coastcross + Arachis sem N; CA100=Coastcross + Arachis com 100 kg de N/ha/ano; CA200=Coastcross + Arachis com 200 kg de N/ha/ano e C200=Coastcross com 200 kg de N/ha/ano foram distribuídos em um delineamento em blocos ao acaso, com duas repeti es. O manejo do pasto foi por meio de lota o contínua e carga animal variável. Foram realizadas as análises de proteína bruta (PB), fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) e digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca (DIVMS) da pastagem para LF, BCV e AP. As produ es dos constituintes estruturais variaram de acordo com os períodos experimentais, e os tratamentos com aduba o apresentaram valores superiores de LF, principalmente nos períodos de primavera e ver o. Além da melhor composi o nutricional indicada pelas LF e AP, a BCV da Coastcross expressou características qualitativas aceitáveis para produ o animal. Os tratamentos que receberam nitrogênio apresentaram maiores valores de PB e teores semelhantes de FDN e DIVMS ao tratamento sem nitrogênio.

Abstract: Neste trabalho, objetivou-se avaliar a massa de forragem nas fra es laminas foliares (LF), bainha + colmo verde (BCV), material morto (MM) e seus teores de proteína bruta (PB) e fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) nos estratos de 0 a 7 cm, 7 a 14 cm e acima de 14 cm de altura da cultivar Coastcross-1 e planta inteira de Arachis pintoi (AP) em pastejo, de mar o de 2003 a mar o de 2004. Estudaram-se os efeitos dos tratamentos CA0 = Coastcross-1 + Arachis sem N; CA100 = Coastcross-1 + Arachis com 100 kg de N; CA200 = Coastcross-1 + Arachis com 200 kg de N e C200 = Coastcross-1 com 200 kg deN, em um delineamento em blocos ao acaso, com duas repeti es. O método de pastejo foi contínuo e a taxa de lota o, variável. As propor es de LF da gramínea Coastcross-1 aumentaram e de BCV, MM e AP diminuíram com o aumento da altura. N o foram observadas diferen as entre os tratamentos. A planta inteira da leguminosa Arachis teve pouca influência na composi o da pastagem pela sua baixa disponibilidade. Os maiores (p < 0,05) valores para PB e menores para FDN foram observados nos estratos intermediários e superiores. O tratamento sem aduba o apresentou valor de PB inferior(p < 0,05) aos demais tratamentos adubados. This trial was carried out to evaluate forage mass in fraction leaf blade (LB), sheath + green stem (SGS), dead material (DE), and crude protein (CP) percentage and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) in thelayers of 0 to 7 cm, 7 to 14 cm and over 14 cm high. Coastcross-1 grass and the whole plant of Arachis pintoi (WPA) were evaluated under grazing, from March 2003 to March 2004. The treatments evaluated were CA0 = Coastcross-1 + Arachis without N; CA100= Coastcross-1 + Arachis with 100 kg of N; CA200 = Coastcross-1 + Arachis with 200 kg of N; and C200 = Coastcross-1 with 200 kg of N, in a random block design, with two repetitions. The proportion of LB and SGS increased, while DE and WPA decreased with the increase of clipping height. No difference was observed among treatments. Arachis had little influence on pasture composition because of its low availability. The highest values (p < 0.05) for CP and the lowest values for NDF were observed in the intermediate and upper layers.

Abstract: in this study, the following treatments were used: coastcross + forage peanut + 200kg/ha of n; coastcross + forage peanut + 100kg/ha of n; coastcross + 200kg/ha of n and coastcross + forage peanut (plots) in the winter, spring, summer, and autumn (subplots), designed in randomized blocks. heifers were managed under continuous stocking and variable stocking rate on pasture maintained at 17cm height. samples were collected every 28 days determining the nutritional value of forage. average daily gain (adg), weight gain (wg), stocking rate (sr), and number of animals/day (nad) were evaluated. as for forage nutritional value, the worst results were found in pasture without fertilization, 16.9% and 6.0% cp of leaf and stem, respectively, and 70.1% ndf in leaves. in the spring and summer, animals had a higher adg, 0.518 and 0.515kg/animal, than 0.396 and 0.293kg/animal in the winter and autumn, respectively. sr was higher in pastures that received higher nitrogen doses, 5.38au/ha in average; and in the summer, 6.81au/ha. lwg was higher in fertilized areas, 1,341kg lw/ha, than in not fertilized pastures, 735kg/ha.

Abstract: this experiment was carried out from july 2006 to june 2007. it was used an experimental design of random blocks with split plot in time, with two replications using the following treatments: coastcross + peanut forage + 200 kg/ha of n; coastcross + peanut forage + 100 kg/ha of n; coastcross + 200 kg/ha of n and coastcross + peanut forage in the following seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn. to estimate the forage mass production availability, the double sampling and triple pairing technique, respectively, every 28 days was used. the proportions of grass, legumes, weeds, uncovered soil and litter were evaluated. the material from the double sampling technique was separated into leaf blade, stem + sheath and dead material fractions. regarding of forage availability, the pasture submitted to treatment without nitrogen had the lower mass, while that submitted to 200 kg/ha of nutrient without the presence of legume had the highest forage mass. for the peanut forage mass, the pasture without fertilization presented the best result. the forage production was higher in pastures submitted to treatment with 200 kg of n/ha followed by that fertilized with 100 kg of n/ha. the grass accumulation rate followed the same trend of forage production. no difference were observed for uncovered soil, litter and uncovered area between treatments; however, the pasture submitted to the dose of 200 kg of n/ha without legume presented lower incidence of invasive plants. no differences were observed for the leaf/stem ratio, leaves mass and dead material mass between treatments; however, the grass submitted to 200 kg of n/ha without legume presented the greatest stems mass.

Abstract: The objective was to evaluate the forage mass production and quality in the morphologic components in different layers of coastcross grass (Cynodon dactylon [L.] Pers cv Coastcross-1) in consortium with forage Groundnut (Arachis pintoi Krapovikas y Gregory cv. Amarillo) with and without N fertilization. The treatments were: coastcross + forage groundnut without N (CA0); with 100kg/ha of N (CA100); with 200 kg/ha of N (CA200); and coastcross exclusively with 200kg/ha of N per year (C200) in the spring, summer and fall. It was used a randomized block design in a split plot. The layers were from zero to 7cm above the soil, 8 to 14cm, and above 15cm. In the lower layers there was higher total forage mass production. For the grass fractions there was no difference in the lower and higher layers however it was observed highter mass production with highest levels of fertilization. The senescent material was higher in fall. The intermediate layer showed superior values in the spring and fall compared to summer as a result of grazing in this layer be constituted of highest percentage of culms witch presented highest quality. The quality values were higher in treatments with nitrogen fertilization. Objetivou-se avaliar a massa de forragem e qualidade bromatológica dos componentes morfológicos nos diferentes estratos do pasto de coastcross (Cynodon dactylon [L.] Pers cv Coastcross-1) em consorcio com amendoim forrageiro (Arachis pintoi Krapovikas y Gregory cv Amarillo) com e sem utiliza o de N. Os tratamentos foram: coastcross + amendoim forrageiro sem nitrogênio (CA0); com 100kg/ha de N (CA100); com 200kg/ha de N (CA200) e coastcross exclusiva com 200kg/ha de N por ano (C200) na primavera, ver o e outono. Utilizou-se um delineamento em blocos casualizados em esquema de parcelas subdivididas. Os estratos foram de zero a 7cm a partir do solo, de 8 a 14cm e acima de 15cm. Nos estratos inferiores verificou-se maior MF. Para as fra es da gramínea n o houve diferen as nos estratos mais baixos e altos, porém nos tratamentos com maiores níveis de aduba o a massa de forragem foi superior. O material senescente foi superior no outono. O estrato intermediário apresentou valores superiores na primavera e outono comparados ao ver o, consequência do pastejo deste estrato estar constituído de maior percentagem de colmos. O valor nutritivo foi superior nos tratamentos que receberam aduba o nitrogenada.

Abstract: forage accumulation rate (far), total forage production (tfp), chemical composition and in vitro dry matter digestibility (ivdmd) of coastcross pasture mixed with arachis pintoi (ap) were evaluated. treatments plots were: coastcross + a. pintoi without n (ca0); coastcross + a. pintoi with 100kg of n (ca100); coastcross with 200kg of n (c200); and coastcross + a. pintoi with 200kg of n (ca200); and seasons of the year (split-plots): winter, spring, summer, and autumn were analyzed. a randomized block design was used subdivided into time plots, with two replications. treatments with the highest fertilizer levels presented higher far than others (p<0.05), with higher tfp during the summer, followed by spring, autumn, and winter, with no differences among then. there were no differences (p>0.05) among treatments for cp, ndf, and ivdmd on coastcross leaf fractions and arachis pintoi whole plant. nitrogen fertilization, when applied to single coastcross pasture or mixed with forage peanut, increased accumulation rate and forage accumulation, with higher productivity and quality in summer.
Características produtivas e qualitativas de pastagem de braquiária em monocultivo e consorciada com estilosantes  [cached]

Abstract: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a massa de forragem e a composi o botanica de pastagens de Brachiaria decumbens Stapf em monocultivo e consorciada com Stylosanthes guianensis (Aubl.) Sw. var. vulgaris cv. Mineir o, em diferentes meses do ano. As amostras obtidas em janeiro e maio foram submetidas a ensaio de degradabilidade in situ da matéria seca. Foram utilizados três piquetes (repeti es), cada um dividido em duas parcelas (monocultura e consorcia o). Após cada amostragem, o pasto foi submetido a pastejo com vacas secas. A massa de forragem de B. decumbens n o variou com o sistema de cultivo; foi menor no mês de outubro (291 kg/ha) e n o diferiu entre os demais meses (1.571 kg/ha). A massa de forragem da leguminosa decresceu ao longo do ano e sua porcentagem na pastagem foi maior em outubro/2001 e menor em janeiro/2002. A massa de forragem total na pastagem consorciada (2.158 kg/ha) foi maior que a do monocultivo (1.481 kg/ha). A taxa de degrada o e a degradabilidade efetiva média de S. guianensis foram, respectivamente, de 6,8%/h e 61,5%, e de B. decumbens foram de 5,3%/h e 49,2%. A leguminosa contribui no aumento da quantidade e na melhoria da qualidade da forragem disponível na pastagem.
