Revista Brasileira de Linguística Aplicada , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-63982012000200009
Abstract: mundurukú, a tupian language of brazil, exhibits two opposite scenarios. on one extreme, there is mundurukú do pará, the language of daily communication in the mundurukú indigenous land, with fluent speakers found across all generations and still acquired by children as a mother tongue. on the other extreme, there is mundurukú do amazonas, formerly spoken in the kwatá-laranjal indigenous land, but whose inhabitants have shifted to portuguese. a group of mundurukú students from amazonas decided to initiate a process of language revitalisation as a way to strengthen the community's ethnic and cultural identity. this paper reports the initial stages of language planning, and includes future actions to promote language use in the homes and communities, assessement of language proficiency, and definition of educational programs to teach mundurukú in local schools.

Fitopatologia Brasileira , 2004,

Abstract: the amazon fan, located in the deep-sea foz do amazonas basin on the brazilian equatorial margin, is one of the largest submarine fan systems in the world. it′s most important features are shale diapirism and a linked extensional-compressional system on a basal detachment. in this paper, we re-interpreted six seismic reflection lines to provide new insights into the gravity tectonics of controversial age. on seismostratigraphic data, we recognized the acoustic basement and six sedimentary units. extensional faults rooting into a detachment revealed seaward decreasing age, pre- to syn-tectonic with respect to the gravity sliding, and rare activity in the faults at present. for basal detachment became active during mioceno superior. suggested is the basal portion of the paleocenic travosas formation that in consequence of an overload caused by the deposition of the pará group.

Abstract: in this review the occurrence of the infantile malnutrition was quantified by the pre-scholars children of the different ecosystems of amazonas state in the last decade. they were just included the data of scientific papers that adopted as diagnosis parameter oms criteria (1986) and nchs pattern (1977). the population was represented by 4,030 pre-school children, whom 1.751 native of the metropolitan area of manaus (amazonas) and 2.279 of the rural area. it was evidenced as main manifestation of the malnutrition the growth deficit, reaching 17% and 23% of the children of the urban and rural areas, respectively. there was emphasis for negro river ecosystem as the one of larger nutritional precariousness, which 35% of these children presented h/i (height/age) inappropriate index, followed by the children of the calhas of amazonas and purus (21%) and madeira (16%) rivers. this means to say that these children were submitted to needs process of long-lived. it was verified in all the cities of the rural area, a relative protection of the children to suffer from malnutrition in the first year of their lives. by the results it becomes evident that the children of the rural area of amazonas presented the largest nutritional precariousness specially, of those residents in negro river ecosystem. these results also evidence the heterogeneity of the amazonian, what should be meditated when of the carrying out of programs of alimentary safety and/or implantation of politics of sustainable development.

In order to use nutritional-composition diagnosis or the diagnosis and integrated recommendation system of multivariate relationships (DRIS) when assessing the nutritional status of the orange, it becomes necessary to define reference values that are suitable for indicating nutritional conditions. This study aimed to establish multivariate DRIS standards, and to evaluate their comparative performance in assessing the nutritional status of the Pera orange in the state of Amazonas against nutritional standards as defined in the literature. We evaluated the nutritional status of 120 commercial plots of a hybrid of the Pera orange and Rangpur lime, the reference values being defined from the group of plots. DRIS standards for nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sulfur (S), boron (B), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) and zinc (Zn) were established and nutritional diagnosis by DRIS, combined with the comparative use of generic standards to those proposed in the literature, showed a low level of agreement when assessing the nutritional status of the Pera orange in the state of Amazonas.
