Abstract:

principal component analysis were performed on samples of two hybrids catfish, yaque pintado (pseudoplatystoma fasciatum? x leiarius marmoratus) and chorrosco (pseudoplatystoma fasciatum x pimelodus blochi) for determining morphological differences and similarities. the truss network proposed by? strauss and bookstein (1982) was used to obtain 20 morphometric distance measurements for determining multivariate allometric coefficients (mac) using? principal component analysis.? jackknife resampling was used to evaluate differences between the allometric coefficients of the hybrids. 9 of? these measurements were statistically different (p < 0.05) and the rest do not showed significant differences? (p >0.05). the methods and analysis used show each of the? hybrids (yaque pintado and? chorrosco) has similar growth trajectories.
