Academic institutions are taking advantage of technology revolution to transform teaching and research by allowing access to digital resources. Teaching and research are changing significantly worldwide and currently more academic institutions and members of faculty have availed digital resources through the internet by eliminating financial, legal and technological hurdles. Being inexpensive and adaptable, OERs have created a way to provide accessible and free information resources for all in the academic arena. The ability to adapt and modify content provides an important advantage especially when targeting specific populations. The increasing demand for teaching and learning resources contrasts with the financial situations in many institutions of higher learning in Kenya.
