Alave %J Globus Journal of Progressive Education %P 1-6 %@ 2582-7200 %D 2021 %R 10.46360/globus.edu.220211001 %X The descriptive-correlational research examined the relationship between the level of anxiety and performance in mathematics among 234 pupils enrolled at one of the elementary school in the Division of Bacolod City during the school year 2016-2017. The Meece¡¯s Math Anxiety Questionnaire and 5-point. The last three-quarter grades were used to measure the level of performance in mathematics. Result revealed that the participants¡¯ level of anxiety by sex and section were moderate and their level of performance in mathematics as a whole was satisfactory. Also, there was a significant relationship between the level of mathematics anxiety and mathematics of the grade four pupils.The level of anxiety of the pupils also affects their performance in mathematics. The poor performances are associated with high anxiety indeed mathematics anxiety is a proxy for poor mathematics performance.
