Taking the multimodal discourse analysis of Chinese original picture books A New Year¡¯s Reunion, The Red Shoe and First Trip away from Home as examples, the present article makes a tentative study on strategies for English translation of Chinese original picture books from three perspectives, namely taking both texts and pictures into consideration, making it possible for readers to be aesthetically entertained during reading, and showing respect for cultural difference.
